The truth is, if you love cars, and do end up buying a Sti you will modify and change parts on that as well.

I think you may have the STi-Envy bug.

Theres alot more to the STi than the HP. However, if that's all you see in the car, then WRX is probably a better choice for you.

Can you tell me what alot more..... is ??? Because for the difference in cash you can swap out suspension, exhaust, and even wheels and have enough money left over to do a track day or two. The STI is awesome don't get me wrong. Thing is though most here that buy them swap out the very same thing as above listed and those are the thing's you payed for buying the STI in the first place. The only other advantage is the 6 speed. Put a better clutch in the 5 and I'm happy. My 2 cents worth.

You know, this topic (is the STi worth it) has been beaten to death so many times on this forum that i'm just going to refrain from opening that can of worms. Personally tho, while you spend a few grand in upping your WRX to attain the same level of performance, im driving around in a stock, and full warrantied car. And that to me was worth it enough. (that just me tho)

And your entitled to your opinion. Drive your stock car and enjoy. Most don''t leave alone....fact. What you have over the WRX is brakes, suspension, Tranny. 2 of the three can be done for way way less then the price difference. The 5 speed is fine for me.

^THIS!!!!

The thing is if you plan to modify your car...you're better off with the WRX because chances are you are going to end up swapping alot of the parts that separate the STi from the WRX and if you do that, then what was the point of buying the STi to begin with (aside from the DCCD....which most people don't even have a clue about or how to properly use it).

Basically is you're gonna add power, change suspension, brakes etc (and if you're going to do it, you will more than likely do it regardless of whether you bought a wrx or sti) you are better off with the WRX and going and buying some Cherry Red (Pink) STi's badges....they are MUCH cheaper to buy separately than when pre-installed on the car from the factory (ie, buying a STi).

If you want to trade your car in for a car that would be better for track use, than you should trade it in for an Evo9, not an STI.

The '09 trannies aren't as fragile as they were in the past. Some of the internals have been shot-peened to make them stronger.

You shouldn't be so worried though- Your car is brand new, you have a warranty.

Worst case scenario- You bust your tranny and your warranty is voided due to abuse. That's when you decide to rebuild it with better parts, or swap to an STI trans. Either way, you still save money.

You will always take a hard hit trading in a new car. New for used / New for New...doesn't matter. You will lose money.

Um... the warranty is void if you do any sort of racing with your car. Check the fine print of your warranty. So the stock STI to race and be under warranty is not a valid argument.

If you have money to burn, STI....if not, mod the WRX. Pretty simple no?

If you want the STi I say go for it but you could just mod your WRX and save a few bucks? What do you owe on the WRX?

I agree with AlphaProject. Plus, 0-60mph, Rex's faster considering it's one less gear change! Plus, the HP to the wheels of the STI is not 305; it's 305 at the crank. With that said, with a few mods and an upgraded turbo after the warranty is up, you'll get more than 305 horses to the wheels w Rex. Just a thought for you! :-)
