Default Transmission Question

I've been searching through hundreds of threads it seems and haven't found a legitiment answer yet so I was hoping someone could help me out.

I'm getting ready to buy an ej257 to swap into my 00 RS: will the ej257 mount directly up to my 5spd transmission?

Your question really doesn't have anything to do with a EJ25 swap, but I'll try to help you out anyways. The Japanese gear sets a geared a bit closer than our North American cars are. You're going to either need to sell the tranny to someone who might want it for auto crossing or replace the gears with one of the aftermarket sets out there.....or even another US transmission. It's your car, so it's your choice. There isn't a magical fix for this situation.

Default 98 2.5rs swap to 05 wrx

Hey guys I'm new to this so please go easy on the abbreviations. I'm doing an 05 wrx swap and pretty much have everything set up as far as wires except I ran into a speed bump. I didn't know there was a difference in the wires or at least one or two connectors. Basically the 02 & 03's have one big connector that runs off the brown and black connectors from the main engine harness. The 04 & 05's have two that branch off from those connectors. My problem is I cant find out what sensors run off those two connectors. I know some like the power steering press switch, the ect sensor, oil pressure switch and maybe one or two more. I would like to know all the sensors that ran off those two connectors so that I would be able to trace them off a wire diagram and solder them to the wires that I have hanging off the ecu connector. Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it.

Factory service manuals on CD are like 20 bucks on ebay. You should buy the manuals for both cars and it will make your life way easier.

edit : Info on swap : 02 wrx - 04 sti harness merged by Zephyr- o4 sti ecu (everything works except for the issues listed above) , 05 trans with 04 half shaft , etc... also my car is an early 02 and i didnt have to change anything to the rear doors. just repinned a plug for the rear diff temp sensor.... rear windows and all work.

I am considering a EJ255/7 swap into my 04 WRX as a replacement for my spun EJ205.
One question I have arises from the Element Tuning guide:
http://elementtuning.com/technical/ej25_install.htm

In the Turbocharger Oil Line section it states that
"The turbochargerís oil feed line is different from the WRX as it is shared with the AVCS oil feed line. You can purchase the STI turbocharger oil feed line for your WRX"

Is the oil line pictured here the stock STi line?

I just want to make sure it's something I know I have when looking at an engine.

The person I would be buying the engine from has some concern with the AVCS. It is my understanding that keeping the solenoids unplugged, but keeping the AVCS oiling locations will allow the engine to run, just without variable timing. Correct?

Another concern is the availability of the Cosworth Billet Cam Angle Sensor Bracket or the Gruppe-S equivalent. (assuming the engine doesn't have the drill-able boss) Are they easy to come by?

Thanks for any help.

I found a 2006 wrx motor that i was looking to maybe put into my 2003 wrx. Reson for swap is my motor has high milage on it. Would it be more of a a plug and play or would i still have to follow the element guide?

I have an 04 2.5RS that I want to do one of three things to. 1. Swap for a different engine. Same year model EJ205 or EJ257. 2. Just get a 257 block with the forged internals. 3. Low-boost turbo the EJ251 that is in the car.

Which would be my most practical route here? Is it even possible to use the 257 block/heads/pistons/rods/crank in conjunction with the rest of my 251? Is the wiring any simpler if i do same year WRX 205 into my car? If all else fails what precautions should I take in turboing the 251?

I have found things close to all of this after days of searching and reading, but nothing exact anywhere. All the swaps I find are newer engines into GC cars, i've seen nothing on using the sti block with the rest of my engine, and turbo info on just the RS is beyond limited. I just want some pointers/answers from people more experienced than I before I dive into this.

I'm getting out of my current car in about 6 months and I've been very interested in picking up a '06 Legacy 2.5i Limited with all the options I want and doing a complete STI drivetrain/suspension/hubs/brakes conversion on it. I love the idea of it being a complete sleeper but it would be much easier and probably cheaper to just buy a Legacy GT, put on the base Legacy hood and do the same fmic conversion I was planning on anyways and use the EJ255. The max power I'm looking to get out of it at any time would be 400 (if that, I'm sure 350 would make me plenty happy) so would it even be worth the trouble to do the whole swap in your guys' opinions?

Oh and I'm also trying to keep insurance costs low so that's also what makes swapping STI gear into a base Legacy sound better than getting the LGT

Default 2006 Forester XT engine swap to Baja Turbo 2004 ?

Hi,

my Baja Turbo 2004 engine is dead. I was looking for engine for replace but no success. I found 2006 Forester turbo engine close to my location. Would like to ask - is it posiible to swap engine from Forester 2006 to Baja 2004? Both turbo, both EJ25. many thanks for replays

Just need to find out if your pistons are the EJ257 style in a EJ255 like the 05 Legacy GT but I think you shouldnt have a problem.

I'm no expert on these swaps obviously but from reading the newbie FAQ threads it sounds as though it will drop right in. If they're both EJ25 it sounds like all the mounting points will be the same but I'm not positive about the differences between the Baja and Forester chassis.

OK, I haven't pulled the overheated engine on my '02 WRX, but planning for the worst. A couple quick questions, since a EJ257 swap seems to be the way to go:

Do I need to upgrade to the STi injectors or is there enough headroom in the 2L injectors to work with the larger displacement? Obviously a tune is necessary.

How does the displacement bump affect turbocharger behavior? I haven't dug around for compressor maps or anything like that, but am I correct in assuming that the larger displacement won't cause compressor surge or over-rev the turbo?

Are you doing long or short block? if long, have you decided if you want to have avcs or not?

Honestly the heads and cams are the same per the part numbers, I'll dig it up later.

Bro the 06-07 wrx uses the TD04 turbo that the 02-03 so you're cool and you'll be fine with the injectors as well unless you move to a larger snail.

Of course it's possible and it's really the same motor anyway.

I've literally been in purgatory for like 2 years and some change so if it matters here are a couple answers.
