Pits in my fog lights

My fog lights are getting dinged up pretty bad from road debris / rocks / etc. The lenses are glass. Any good suggestions on how to clean them up a bit (short of replacing them)? Is glass "polishable"?

I've tried waxing them to prevent further damage, but I have no idea if its effective.

AND, for the record, please don't suggest getting covers -- I think they look really ugly. I wouldn't be opposed to a clear tint/film if people think that stuff works?

saw a headlight polishing kit at either VIP or Wal-Mart. but I am not sure if its for plastic only or glass also.
You might also want to contact your local Automobile glass replacement center, and find out if they have any recommendations.

There are plenty of glass polishers out there, should help a bit
