I got home opened the hood turned on ac and couldnt hear anything. Anyone have any idea what it would be? my car only has 48xxxkms on it I dont get it. I still have warranty on it should I take it to subaru or what?

heres a test:

turn the engine on, pop the hood.

next look at the engine. youll see the AC pump right on top to the right of the alternator. theres a belt going around it and the pulley has 3 round things on it. the pulley should not be turning with the engine running because it has a clutch. this is normal.

next turn on the AC and then go back and look at the pulley. it should be turning now. if its not, the pressure switch is not active meaning your R134a refrigerant (ac gas) leaked out for whatever reason. either way you have a leak somewhere. could be a rock chip on the condensor, could be a buggered o-ring who knows.

ever been in a front end accident?

the pulley is 2 parts. is the entire pulley turning, or just the outside?

is your car set on "defrost"? make sure the position is set to blow at the feet or straight out. not defrost. also, make sure its not set on "auto" at all. then check it. then press the A/C button.

how bad was the accident? what did they replace?

another test to see if there is refrigerant is to check it manually. follow the AC hard like (aluminum tube) from the pump. find what looks like a plastic knob attached to the pipe. remove the plastic cap. in the middle of the hole there will be a pin like a tire valve kinda. find a LONG narrow object and gently push down on it. if a blast of oily mist comes out youre full. that is good. hold it down for only a SPLIT second. make sure your face is away from it and try not to breathe it in. wear ****ty clothes too because AC stinks.

yes. unless a rock flew into your grille on the highway and punctured the condenser. then no. that kind of thing happens more than you would think.

if thats the case, send me a PM.

Can you post what happened with this case? My A/C in my 2002 wrx wasnt working when I bought it...I took it somewhere and my mechanic charged the A/c and it was working great

Two days later my transmission goes and my car is in a shop for 3 weeks. I get the transmission rebuilt and I get my car back. I turn on the A/c and its blowing just air...its not hot air but its not cold air either. That was 3 days ago and my AC still isnt working.

Can some one help me out? I would really appreciate it

Odd are you have a leak, just like every other lucky car in this world.

When you realise that you have a leak, it's best to take it to the shop, or DIY, and look for the leak right away. Because the AC is still fresh, you can find the leak, it should be wet somewhere on the hose; thats your leak. If you wait to long, it dries up, and you will NEVER find it. That said, fix the problem sooner rather than later. It will usually saves you more money in the long run too. However, if you DIY, you still need to charge up at your local trusty.... dealership. Fills are about $100-$120. I filled up at this place on Kingsway and ... I forgot, pm me if you want the place.

oh yea, did I tell you youtube is my best friend?

you likely have a slow leak. either from careless reassembly from a front end accident or maintainence. an o-ring seal may have got a tiny cut in it. or you have a small puncture on the condensor from a rock flying through your grille.
