So hear is my story. On Monday I was driving home on the #1 when a 6inch block of concrete appeared in front of me. I swerved (to save hitting my oil pan) and ended up taking out both my passanger tires. The concrete punctured both my Rotas and the internal dimple was so great my front Brembo got scored. The claim has been filed and my body shop is doing the assesment. They have ordered a new front Brembo but the thing I'm going for is the car needs to look as it was. Both my front Brembos had equal wear and tear and now my driver's side Brembo will look out of place when a brand new Brembo is set on the passanger's side.
Does anyone know a place where I can have my existing driver's side Brembo sent out to be re-finished. I would fully expect ICBC to cover the cost as they need the car to look balanced. Thanks for any thoughts you have to pass along. Oh my other thought was to have all my Brembo's sent out for powder coating but unsure what colour would look good against a fresh WRB paint job. I think red Brembos would stick out weirdly againt Bronze rims.

ya icbc won't pay to have your other brembos refinished. just like they wont pay to have all 4 wheels refinished if you scratch one. You might be able to tell with the brakes side by side, but when they are on the car, you will never be able to tell the difference.
second, you shouldn't really powder coat brakes... it doesn't cross-link like high temp paint does. it just melts together. so at about 400 degrees F, it will melt again. Depending on how hard you are on your brakes they could approach those temps. |

how da hell are you going to look at the driver and passenger side at the same time? No one is going to notice... especially after a week of brake dust covering em. Give me a new caliper for sure.

Lol! All good input but few comments on places that can handle re-finishing brakes. As for what ICBC will and wont do, that can be left to me. I've had claims in the past and the insurance is to put you vehicle back to the condition it was (appearance wise and that is in specific reference to being balanced).
Keep positive thoughts coming here. No point getting into the particulars of ICBC and claims. |

If ICBC wanted to bring it back to the condition it originally was in prior to the incident, then they'd be scuffing up your new caliper. Or well, you could do that yourself if it concerns you enough

as for mopac vs. lordco in general...lordco is cheaper for stuff like paint, hoses, etc, (most of the time)...but i find 90% of the people who work at lordco are self-righteous cocksucking douchebags who dont know **** about cars, not only that but they couldn't be more rude and unpleasant to deal with if they had a cactus shoved up their ass. Those mother****ers can eat a bag of dicks and choke to death....granted there's a couple people that break the mold for the company, but they are too far and few between for me to waste my time wading through the horse **** to find. **** i hate lordco napa is decent Mopacs pricing on performance parts is actually quite competitive, and a couple of their guys know their ****, and if you talk to big ol domestic homeboy and he doesn't know what you're talking about, he'll grab one of the younger guys that know what you're looking for, not tell you you're full of **** and a gasket doesn't exist like the ****ers at lordco. I usually buy my cheap stuff (hoses, fluids, etc) from autozone/advance in the US of A....just make a list, go pick up a bunch of ****...usually cheap enough for the border people to not care....save a ton of money.... as for the paint, im not sure the exact price of it at mopac....give em a call..i just through 12$ out for a high estimate |
