Useless J.D. Power nonsense.

Though I have to say that Subaru isn't an appealing brand overall in terms of the emotional response I have with certain makes.

Isn't total US sales the only real indicator of which make is most appealing in the US? Are they confusing appeal and prestige, perhaps? Because KIA and RAM, to me, are drop dead prestigious.

If it is so un appealing, then why do they have such high customer retention?

I think you guys are missing the boat. It's more of a "If you could have any car what brand appeals to you most?" type of question that as they word it is based off emotion.

No, I'm on the boat in this crappy sea, and the thread title ALLURED me to this awesome thread...It ENTICED me.

Appeal is such an emotionless pedestrian term that would and should be saved for a Prius. The APPEAL of a Prius is its low operation costs, its functional cabin, and its ability to save the planet. Nowhere should a Porsche be called appealing. It's not. They simply do not sell enough cars for it to be considered appealing to anyone. Is it alluring? YES! Enticing? You bet! Tempting? Seducing? Ok, maybe.

Just call it "sexy" and get it done with. Subaru is not sexy. Yep! I will agree with that. It IS appealing to lots and lots and lots of people...10 times more so than a Porsche.

Appeal is used because APEAL is their stupid acronym. But it is the wrong word for what they are trying to quantify. Surprise! JD Power! Initial quality is my favorite...KIA and Hyundai, always off the charts!

JD Power is basically a black mail operation. They come up with nifty sounding "studies", get a lot of publicity on them through the sheer power of marketing, and then sell the methodology of the study to the manufacturers for millions. Good business model, really, but I think this must push them to constantly come up with new studies or revise their existing metric in some way so that the companies have the incentives to keep buying their methodology every year. (Obviuosly I'm guessing somewhat here.)

But most importantly, no one should take any "study" seriously that does not disclose its methodology unless you pay them millions.

I hear you. I just went through some intellectual incest with a group "defining" nationality vs. ethnicity vs. race.

Who in their right mind has time to think this poop up?

Peace,

Greg

appealing != sales

What a worthless article, especially since the cars at the top of the list are out of reach for most people.

That article was pointless and provided nothing. Of course if money was not an concern, people would want higher end luxury cars. Obvious poll is obvious.

I agree. tremendously tasteless exterior designs with cheap interiors, 30 year old technology in the cars. the freaking tranny on the wrx was made by the egyptians.

Any Kia or Hyundai looks better inside out than any Subaru. Even with the BRZ the only thing Subaru touched was the bumper and they F..... it up!
