Default '07 STI Springs and struts for '04 WRX

Buddy of mine just threw some coilovers on his '07 STI. My '04 WRX when I bought it had "2 lowering springs on the stock struts, I'm also at 92,000 miles so needless to say the struts are probably shot. I am tired of bottoming out and feeling like I'm goin off road when I'm on the highway. So I'm just curious to know if the springs will fit. Both vehicles are sedans.

Thanks, Steve

Struts won't fit without modification though.

Do explain? Are we talking about an extra piece of hardware or is there some tweaking to the struts.

Not trying to sound like a tool or anything, but check out the links in the unabomber thread in this forum's stickies, tons of good suspension info can be found there, and likely quicker than waiting on folks to hit your thread again!

I think the rears would fit (I think) but the fronts would have to be converted to the 5x114 hubs. That's a lot of work and money for just some used struts. Just keep the springs and top hats (I'm assuming they have less miles) and sell the struts.

I actually have...found a link on the Suspension page:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1170952

But I work 10p-6a everynight so needless to say my brain has shut off. I think from what it says I need to get some spacers and modify a bolt or so....input?

Well I posted the link.... and this is the part I am pretty sure I have figured out...

For the fronts...

The fronts have two bolt up configurations.
Configuration 1 - 02 to 07 WRX and 04 STi
Configuration 2 - 05 to 07 STi

Struts have two configurations.
Configuration X - 02 to 07 WRX and 04 STi
Configuration Y - 05 to 07 STi

Springs have one configuration.

Top Hats have one configuration.

There are four possible configurations...
1X - works with no modification
2Y - works with no modification
1Y - works with modification / spacers
2X - never works (unless you like welding)

For the rears...

The rears have one bolt up configuration.

Struts have two configurations.
Configuration X - 02 to 03 WRX
Configuration Y - 04 to 07 WRX or STi

Springs have two configurations.
Configuration A - 02 to 03 WRX
Configuration B - 04 to 07 WRX or STi

Top Hats have two configurations.
Configuration 1 - 02 to 03 WRX
Configuration 2 - 04 to 07 WRX or STi

There are eight possible configurations...
XA1 - works without modification
XA2 - doesn't work
XB1 - doesn't work
XB2 - works with spacers
YA1 - works without modification (need to double check)
YA2 - doesn't work
YB1 - doesn't work
YB2 - works without modification

Now as it states for my front suspension "1Y - works with modification / spacers" that means I need to figure out what the modification is, which is what I am asking.

^ you can still get your friend's springs/ struts. There are plenty of 05-07 sti owners out there looking for some replacement struts, not very many options for them.

Well I mean, why have him sell me them, to only go and sell them myself? Cause I am pretty sure the springs have a good deal of mileage on em, the only reason I was even considering them was a direct bolt on deal.

How many miles are on them? And would he even sell you just the springs? Right now, if those struts don't have too many miles on them (I'm assuming they don't have too many since its an 07 sti), you can sell them very quickly and probably make back whatever you bought the springs/struts for.

He said not alot, but he would be willing to seperate if I desperately need the springs. I mean, I understand if I was in his shoes it would be easier to sell the set vs parts, just IMO.
