Hey,
I have a 2009 2.5i Premium Sedan. It is automatic and stock, except for the new wheels and tires I have coming in. Anyway, can you buy cold air intakes, unequal length headers and exhausts for these easily, or do they need to be custom built to fit these cars? Also, are unequal length headers such as the Borla replicas bad for these cars?

-Thanks

Hi there,

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase. To answer your question, in short, no to all of them. Feel free to research in the NA forum (the stickies are a great place to start) where you will find out why they do not work.

From the research Ive been doing, Intakes and headers are not a good option, Will have to tune for both of them unless you want a CEL, unless you do the hybrid intake, but the stock box is good enough with paper filters. Exhuast isnt a problem, pretty much any cat back that can fit the WRX sedan will fit ours. I have the magnaflow one on mine and it sounds decent, just a high RPM rattle that I hope flipping the doughnut gasket I just did will fix.

Intakes really are a stupid idea. They give you very very little gain for the couple hundred dollars you pay for them, plus almost all of them give you CEL's.

Also, UEL header fitment in the 08+ models is iffy. Some have gotten them on, but you will likely need custom fabrication to make them fit.

Just work on your suspension first. It's the best bang for the buck and you'll have more fun in the corners. I did it and it makes the car totally different.

if you have the same air duct my car came with ( stubby and NOT drawing air from the front of the hood ) look to get a wrx air duct. i recently found one for free and on a trip to the poconos i averaged 29.9 mpg on the highway, with the ac on blast, going faster than the posted limit at times. i like it.

Im wondering the same thing. Im getting ready to puchase a 06 Forester NA. It is a 5 sp but as far as modding will the same info apply to me as well as the 08 Sedan. Im thinking so but just want to make sure.

I heard the header and CBE was a good place to start for about 20HP. Is this true?
