From DealExtreme
"- Note: Will not work on CAN-BUS protocol"

From Romraider.com
" The OP 2.0 supports all vehicles supported by the old versions plus offers a number of new features:
  • The ability to read/flash Subaru CANbus ECUs (generally 08+ Impreza 2.5i/WRX/STi and 07+ Legacy/Outback 2.5i/GT, Forester 2.5/XT, Tribeca)"
It looks like if you have a 2008+ you are probably stuck with the real tactrix 2.0 cable, which is a little more costly. $169

Doing this wrong can cause a much more costly new ECU. I wouldn't risk cheaping out on the cable. Take care and good luck.

Can Mikey confirm if this Vagcom Cable works or does it have to be the Tactrix

Thanks.

Sorry Sniper,

I just looked back and saw your PM. I've gotten 85 in the last few days, and im trying to keep up

As said above, your car is a canbus car. The cable you purchased does not work with canbus cars, you would have to purchase the $79 cable.

I've never owned a vag com cable, but multiple users say they work well. I've always stuck with tactrix but will order a cable or two soon to personally experience what actually works on the canbus cars, and what doesnt.

-Mikey

Paypal'd.

Dumb questions - you listed the things that need to be logged, but when I look at the RomRaider logger, theres like 2 or 3 instances of each item:

engine load - There's "engine load relative" and "engine load (4byte)"
total ignition timing - only one of these.
feedback knock correction - theres a 4byte and a 1byte
fine learning knock correction - theres a plain ol FLKC, and a 4byte,
IAM - plain ol IAM, and a 1byte and 4byte.

Are we to log all instances of each?

Hey Mikey,

Since most of us are new to this, how about a detail write up on how to log the information, what to do with the info and how to do the maps, etc? Then you don't have to answer one of our question.

Did you get my payment btw?

Thanks.

UPDATE

For all 2009 2.5i cars,

I just did some reading and now realize why I was able to read maps from 1 09 car, and not another. The auto trans cars are NOT supported, and would probably require a cobb AP (if even supported by them).

Sorry AT guys, only 05-08 AT cars are supported.
If anyone has paid or pays in the near future for a tune and has an 09 auto, you will be promptly refunded.

Quick question - my tank was filled with 87 prior to now. I just filled it up with ~45 litres/12 gallons of 91. Is that amount of fuel sufficient?

Thats why it took me so long to log data. My gas was full of 87 lol

Ohh, good call dude! That base map may not have been able to accommodate that low of an octane, lol.

I'm off to bed now, gotta be up by 5, in the office for 630

If any logs were sent I will check them during my morning coffee, roughly 9am and have info back to you by lunch!

PS, burn about 1/4 of the tank off by normal driving, then top off with 91 just to be safe.
