Default What to mask off?

Just bought a Porter Cable and kit from Detailersdomain.com and have two questions....

1) What exactly do I need to mask off before starting the whole wash/clay/polish/wax process?

2) What do I do around the 3M bra that was on the car when I bought it?

Thanks for any constructive suggestions!

I use painters tape to cover the black matte parts, symbols and such. Some cover up the seams to keep out dust, but I don't bother. As for the bra, I use a tape to cover the bra seam.

I don't go too nuts as painters tape is expensive.

I cover all the rubber, symbols/chrome parts, throw some old towels over the wipers, and I mask the seams just because it's a PITA to get out polish/wax if it happens to get in there

1) anything that you donít want to polish. Mainly plastic parts, lights, grills, windows, antennas. Or anywhere that the edge of the pad might catch, IE from the front hood to the front grill. there are some pictures of what I taped off:

2) I *believe* you can go right over the clear bra and polish it. You will want to be sure you are careful around the seems. If need be use a 50/50 alcohol and water mix to clean up any residual polish and wax around the seem.

Donít use painters tape, it is not designed for automotive paint and clear coats use either Meguires or 3m automotive tape. You can get 3m @ shucks / O'riely's. Its neon green instead of blue.

I agree not cheap, but cheaper than repainting, replacing or repairing messed up trim pieces.
