Default I think I just failed a midterm

someone make me feel better.

it was worth 40% of my grade.
40% for the final, 20% for tutorial/presentation.

BLAH.

hoping that everyone else did ****ty, and hoping that it is marked on a curve (Business faculty).

Don't stress out about it, in the grand scheme of life I don't think midterm tests rank very high.

This is literally my case - had one last course (a useless one for a biology degree at that), and got a glorious D... worst mark I ever got, but somehow, also the sweetest

It has been my experience that so long as you attend class regularly, and show interest (or at least pretend too), your instructor will take note, and find a way to pass you if at all possible.

I literally have one course left in my degree, though hopefully I will not get a D.

As soon as I finished my research advisor said 'good, now forget it all - it was pointless!'

You must not have taken an engineering degree, haha.

JG: don't stress too much...Ds get Degrees indeed. Most of the people in my program have s**tty GPA's but they are all still progressing. I've failed more than one midterm. Some students are able to keep their absurdly high marks going through their whole degree but a lot of them have nothing going on in their lives besides school anyway .

A friend of mine got a job at Raytheon (http://www.raytheon.com/) just before he graduated, under the assumption that he would soon be an engineer, and then promptly failed a 400-level turbine propulsion class which prevented him from graduating. To get his degree he had to go back to school in the fall just to get that one class.

Raytheon didn't care at all. He started working there over the summer, and would commute up to school to attend his one class after he got off work. He graduated a semester late with a bad GPA and an awesome job.

*shrug*

I have failed 7 courses throughout my undergraduate degree (lowest mark is 26% on transcript). And yet, I'm on my last year of it and will be graduating this upcoming May (hopefully). Since you can't change the past, move on and shape the future. Oh yes, I'm in engineering

Thanks for the comments guys

I was just having a ****ty week for numerous reasons, and then this midterm, and then I had to bring my bird to the vet for an emergency trip. She's getting x-rayed, on pain meds, staying overnight, and I had to buy her a whole new cage setup.

and on top of all that, it's nearing end of semester and all my projects, papers, major presentations are coming up. while I attempt to juggle part-time work as well.

just feeling really blah about, well, everything.

Trying to see the bright side of things! It's tough!

spanks for the cheer.

Nooooooo... biology and chemistry - so not pure math, but not an arts degree based on feelings either...

Those observations are reasonable from many of my peers experiences though (including professors) - instructors in general show more leniency and give more part marks if the students show interest and respect. Again, it's not to imply that you will get an A if you are a suck up, but if its the difference between 48 and 52, or 65 and 67, the impressions students make can often be deciding factors.

Jockey_girl - it's just one midterm, and in the grand scheme of things, not much.
