I am looking for a simple clean system for my 2002 WRX. I was thinking about just some upgraded door speakers when I put the new STi door cards on, and a lil something that goes bump.
I don't need or want a mega system, in volume, or cost. I have been there and done that. I have an Alpine cda-7894 head unit... please help me out so I can shop smarter thanks

same here. i have a mid level kenwood headunit. 200 watt rms amp hooked to an older rockford punch, 12" sub. stock fronts, random 6x9's in back. overall it sounds pretty good. sub is plenty loud if you want some punch. not the loudest i've had but it's loud enough. i'm not trying to get attention downtown or anything.
basically you don't need to go big, just get some good mid level stuff and you'll be pretty happy, imo. |

Use your HU with a 4 channel amp under the passenger seat, 6.5" components in the front, and a shallow sub under the driver seat if you want 100% cargo space. Any decent brand 4-channel amp with ~400W RMS total power should be fine. The Elemental Designs and Kenwood small subs have a cult following so plenty of reviews on them. JL and stereo imaging also make awesome shallow subs but cost a lot more.
I personally used the eD sub under driver seat and PG Tantrum 400.4 under passenger seat with great results. I had multiple other full sized subs I would throw in and out of the trunk as needed, but used the small eD sub 90% of the time and was more than happy with it. If you're willing to give up trunk space for a normal sized 10" sub, then the options are limitless. |
