Default DCCDPro - User tuning via USB

DCCDPro UNI - USB Functionality Option added 7/12/10

There will be a new option added to the DCCDPro UNI controller product page in the next day or so.
USB connectivity! Finally!

I’ll also be adding the USB driver download link, and the VB6 app I wrote to adjust the dccd settings to the downloads area.

The new features will allow you to re-proportion the DCCD auto mode scalings, calibrate the G-Sensor, turn off the handbrake function, and reverse the TPS for older GC8 style throttles. Settings are from 0-200% for the major parameters, TPS, Accel, Decel, Turning, as well as a new feature “Max” and “Min” that will allow you to set a reduced overall maximum output or an overall minimum output.

All parameters are written to the non-volatile eeprom, so they are retained until changed by the app.

I may also release the source for the VB6 app so people can change it to their will, I’m just investigating a proper GNU GPL that allows everyone the freedom to do what they want with it while retaining some link to the product.

I’m also going to be updating some of the pictures due to recent requests. (The main picture in the DCCDPro UNI shows a fully optioned unit…)

Hopefully people are excited about this new (and purely optional) feature. I know I am.
It opens the door to sooo much future development and functionality.

More good things to come in the future!

-Jeff

Here is a screenshot of the new app!

For the main parameter % settings...they can be set from 0-200% for Acceleration, Deceleration, and Turning. Min, Max can be set 0-100%
The g-sensor can be calibrated for the car's level automatically here, as well certain features can be toggled off or reversed if need for older throttle inputs.

The USB tuning cable adds a virtual com port to your pc and communicates with the unit to update or report the settings and when the settings are changed they are stored to non-volatile eeprom. (When the car is shut down the parameters are stored and not lost.)

Thanks for your interest!!!

I have been considering how to upgrade customers. I think a lot of people are going to want the ability to program their diff, as well as the unbelievable number of improvements in the firmware in the past 7 months.

What I may do is offer an exchange program through my webstore.

You pay something for the additional hardware and send back an old unit, you then get the newest version and the cable and tuning app.

I was thinking about this even for manual controller owners....I have to do some "economics" on it to see how cheaply it can be done for for each type but basically anything is possible.

I'll try to add these options to my webstore on the weekend.

Oh hell yes!!! I didn't see this until now, and I need to call you anyway. The blue car is back together, and I'm sick of fighting the factory controller. This is is GREAT news for what we're going to be doing.

Thanks for the support and interest in this new development.
It seems to be working out well with about 5 customers using it so far.

TIC....give me a ring after Sept 7th as I'm heading out for vacation until then.
I'll set it up for you, it is very cool to be able to tune the dccd yourself with a laptop.

It is still using all my algorithms, but you can adjust the diff a LOT now.
I almost need a "tuning guide" written now.

Thats the VSSpro, my new product. That is in a customers car in Michigan already being beta tested.

It is working, albeit with a few small issues I want to clear up before going to production with it.

Right now it is accurate to about 1-2 mph across the normal driving range (tested up to 90 mph)

The problem is there is a incremental stepping action to the needle as it moves up. ie. In the lower mph values it looks nice and smooth, but as you get up to the 70 mph range it jumps in 5-6 mph increments.

So, I need to go back to the drawing board with my math and digital filtering to add accuracy, probably a longer averaging filter with a higher precision is needed for this product.

The good news is that it has been running for a few months without too many issues, and has not blown up or damaged anything. I didn't think it would but it is nice to prove out the hardware "in vehicle".

I'll make more announcements here and on my webblog when I get back and get the guy a new firmware chip to test. We are at the last 10% now with it, but you probably know that can be equal to about 50% of the work.

Thanks again.

Question, will it work with a Hydra ECU?

Sorry I missed this, I was on vacation for a few weeks and am just checking back in all my threads.

Yes, it will work with a hydra no problem.
