As I noted, watch out for large potholes as you come over the last hill. It goes from 45mph to something a lot slower (I think a 25mph zone) before you know it and the road will tear up your car. Once you get down to the bottom of the hill, take a left onto a dirt path. There should be "Aviator" signs posted where you're supposed to turn.

Second sat of each month is the big boss brew tour. But they charge $1 per beer to taste. But really cool people there. Weather was Hot as hell though.

We can talk to some of the Aviator guys (a few of us knwo them) and see if they coudl do a special Sunday tour, downside is there is no food at the brewery, and no AC but plenty of parking behind the building. We might be able to have a BBQ with a bring somethign pot luck type thing.

I was semi-thinking the same thing. It's going to be hot out there, but there are some GREAT spots for photo's. Maybe Mark will take us up in his plane... They also have horse shoes, which is always fun. Just a regular old cookout would be nice. Doesn't have to be anything special, hot dogs and burgers are fine with me.

Sounds awesome. I hate I couldn't make the first one, if I'm around town for this one, I will definitely come out. Aviator FTW.

Big Boss Brewery/hornyblows !!!???

I am there at least twice a week as it is. Not sure about brew tours but you can walk around wherever you want... plus the beer is far far better

Ok man. I think that since it's been on a Sunday the past 4 times, I'll just stick with that. Who the hell goes to church anyway???

Let's not get started on which beer is better. This won't be the last beer meet, I can assure you, and it will always be at a different location. I think that from what I heard at the last meet, that Aviator would be the best bet this time. I'll get in touch with those guys and see what we can do on a Sunday. Hopefully update you guys soon.

BAH! bull*****!!!! i used to frequent that place pretty often, until it all started tasting EXACTLY the same! it's all the same formula with different gravities. it's either a variation of angry angel, hells belle or bad penny. hasn't been good in well over a year. plus the brewery tour is a bit ghetto.

the stuff at aviator is at least a far better variety. and better quality in my opinion. i've never seen the big boss boys do a single special aged cask, i've sampled multiples at aviator.

i support the local guys, and i'd rather have big boss than a bud light or yeungling ( jax!), but otherwise, they're slipping compared to before.

plus, between robert, myself and mark, we know most of the staff at aviator (at least the owner and the brewmaster). so we gots an in! not to mention, parking at big boss is atrocious, good luck fitting 5 cars in their shared lot. i've gotten pinned in by someone else at least twice.

I can almost definitely make August 15th... After that though Fall semester will be starting up again and you'll have a harder time getting those of us STILL in school to get out there

I'm down for the weekend of the 15th, since I'll be in town.

Like Ryan said, I support the local breweries. However, one local had a wet-hop-backed IPA running through their homemade hopback at the beerfest, the other had the same 3 beers you can get in any decent grocery store in the area... You can argue all you want on which is better, but it's clear which one has more varieties, one-offs, and limited runs - which is a great reason to check out a brewery.

Someone mentioned horse shoes. I've really got to wait for confirmation on that before committing to anything.

/In reality I'm just subscribing to this thread to see where this goes.

Last time I was there, they had horse shoes. I doubt they did away with 'em. Are you not a beer drinker?

Beer is good.
Horse shoes are good.
Beer + horse shoes = awesome and potentially destructive, which = extra awesome.

Ok, 8/15 it is. I'll try to get up with the Aviator guys today or tomorrow to see if we can go out there on a Sunday and if they would be willing to do some sort of tour for us.

Already really excited about this. People start letting me know if you'll be able to make it and I'll add you to the list.
