OMGHi2U 2010-2011 Fantasy Football Thread

Time to roll the dice and build a fake football team using real players and their real stats! The gazillion-dollar industry of fantasy football is once again upon us.

Having some concerns as to who I should keep in my keeper league (16 team league)

3 QBs Tom Brady /Trent Edwards / Michael Vick
2 RBs Chris Johnson / Mike Bell
4 WRs Larry Fitzgerald /Calvin Johnson / Percy Harvin / Jeremy Maclin
2 Flexs Steve Slaton / Donald Brown
2 TEs Kellen Winslow Jr / Jermichael Finley
2 Ks Ryan Longwell / Connor Barth
2 Ds Buffalo / Detroit

I am keeping those guys in bold, cutting those with strikethrough.
The others are available for me to keep at my one Flex spot. Who do you suggest?

Harvin?
Maclin?
Slaton?
Donald Brown?

Ah...my favorite time of year is slowly approaching.

I'd probably keep Slaton. They are going to be a great team this year. Although...Favre is coming back, right?

Monitoring Favre is a problem, as I have until 8/11 to choose my protections.
I'm leaning towards Slaton or Harvin, and dangling Maclin and Brown out there to people who want them for a draft pick.

Those were pretty much my exact thoughts. If Favre is coming back (and likely will) then it will be a tough choice, though I think I'd still go with Slaton.

Is OT doing FF this year? I'd love to get in on the league this time...

Just had this wonderful pre-roster cut/pre-draft trade offer

Quote:
Offered:
Matt Hasselbeck
Kevin Smith
Buccaneers D
3rd round draft pick (44 overall)

for

Tom Brady
2nd round draft pick (30 overall)
Lions D
Let me get this straight. You want me to trade you my only keeper-level still All-Pro caliber QB and my 2nd round draft choice for
  • a 35 year old QB in a contract season with a questionable running game and average WRs with no depth that I probably wouldnt keep for this year
  • a RB who may be unseated by a highly drafted rookie that I definitely wouldnt keep as a keeper-level RB on my roster for this year
  • a D that may be good again in a few years
  • and a lower draft pick

yea, Im gonna do that

RB's in the first round:

Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, Ray Rice, SD's new RB, Adrian Peterson (I'd take him if I had a later pick), Maurice Jones-Drew, DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart, Cedric Benson. Sleeper: CJ Spiller (if he starts, could have a good season since all other Buffalo RB's suck)

QB's in the 2nd Round:

Aaron Rodgers, P. Manning, Brees, Philip Rivers (no Vincent Jackson will hurt) 2nd tier: Brady (could move higher if he isn't broken like last year), McNabb, Romo, Rapistburger (depending on 4 or 6 game suspension), E. Manning

WR's:
Andre Johnson, Roddy White, DeSean Jackson (serious on this one, punt returns for TD's help points), Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Miles Austin

TE:
pretty standard: Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates, Vernon Davis, Brent Celek, Jason Witten, Jermichael Finley

Def:
Jets (although, I'd check to see if Darrelle Revis has signed by your draft day, if not move them lower), Baltimore, Saints, Green Bay, Steelers, Bengals, Eagles, Redskins (seriously, Haynesworth + semi-improved secondary)

Kickers:
Mason Crosby, Nate Kaeding, Josh Scobee, Ryan Longwell, Garrett Hartley, Sebastian Janikowski

Yea, that is for a league, but it is for FF regardless.

So, Ryan Grant is out for the rest of the season. Here's to picking up Brandon Jackson!

Already did that in three of my leagues. Especially the two I had Ryan Grant in.

Yeah I'm in a modified auction league with a "soft" salary cap at $300. Bid opening for free agents is tomorrow. Right now the bid on him is at $39. Ridiculous.

(F yeah for auction keeper leagues btw. Ray Rice $10, DeAngelo $13)

mopped up in one league 178-90 this week, squeaked by in another 140-138. Luckily I missed the Grant injury on both teams, but my buddy is pretty much screwed since he had Grant in both leagues. Plus, in one league we have 12 teams with an 8 person bench. There is NOBODY left to pick up.

I'm screwed with defense this week. I have Miami @ Minnesota or Giants @ Indy.

Have a Nice Day?

I must be crazy for thinking of this trade.

12 team league, passing TDs are 6 points. I drafted AP at #2. We have to have 2 QBs on our roster and start 1. One unfortunate soul drafted both Kolb and Stafford this year, and is faced with no QBs for this week unless he picks someone up.

My roster is currently (starters last week in bold):

Schaub and E Manning
A. Peterson, P Thomas, J Best, D. Brown, S. Slaton
D. Clark, B. Berrian, D. Bryant, J. Maclin, Jacoby Jones (WR/TE position)

I was thinking of offering Manning to him for a WR (He has DJax, Mike Williams in Seattle, and not much else) or Ray Rice to match up with AP in my backfield

Say, offering E Manning and P Thomas for Ray Rice and Kolb/Stafford choice or DJax and Kolb/Stafford choice.

Crazy? Probably.
If I told you I am facing this guy this week, then you would think I am stupid. And I would agree.

50% of me wants to strike while he needs the help and Eli has perceived high value. 50% of me wants to make an offer after this coming weeks games. The other 50% wants me to keep Eli as my ace up my sleeve if Schaub goes down or for bigger trade bait later in the season.

If there's money involved, don't do it.

I'm assuming since it's a 12 man league that the best QB available is probably Sam Bradford or something, correct? If that's the case, be an ass and cripple him for a few weeks and don't offer anything, or be an ass and throw out Eli for Rice and Kolb/Stafford. Anything else wouldn't make much sense. No sense in trading 'even' with the guy. All you're doing is helping him at that point. If you need to drop a player because of the uneven trade get rid of Slaton or Brown.

Hines Ward for Pierre Garcon? I'm thinking no, but want to ask your opinions.
