Default Legacy Outback question

Does anyone know the part number or where i can get a new woodruff key for the 2.2? My 97 Legacy Outback has fallen victom to the crank wobble, luckily its not too bad and a new key should do the trick. Just having a hard time finding one or a part number for one.

(1) Your '97 Legacy Outback should have a 2.5, not a 2.2. Not that it really matters, since they almost certainly would use the same woodruff key.

(2) Call a dealer. www.subaruparts.com. www.annapolissubaru.com. www.1stsubaruparts.com. Etc etc etc...

Thank you, and yes i know it should have the 2.5 but it doesn't, and its the original motor.

So Subaru just decided to build 1 '97 Legacy Outback with the wrong engine?

Hopefully you've found the part you were looking for.

Meanwhile, I'm intrigued by the details of the car. The fact that it has a 2.2L VIN is interesting. Are you the original owner? What makes it an Outback? If you're not the original owner, is there a chance it had an Outback bumper put on it by a previous owner? Or is there more to it than that? (As in it has the full two-tone Outback paint job, Outback badging, etc).

Pat

Any key should work btw. Pick one of a dead motor or something

Damn subaru... Post a pic of your vin plate up btw. I am intrigued.

Do it. Do it now :P

Not the original owner. Bought it off my parents, they have owned it since probably 99 or 98. It is weird, its got the 2 tone , grey/green paint job, outback badging and everything. Its not too far fetched for someone to have vin switched it or something iono. Not too worried about it i just need to get it on the road.

Please post up the first twelve characters of your Outback's VIN.

The remaining characters are specific to your car.

Are you really sure it isn't a late model 1996 Outback with the 2.2 Litre and a 5-speed ?

I am fairly certain that there were no 1997 Subaru Outbacks with the 2.2 litre, although hypothetically speaking it wouldn't have been especially hard for a few 1997s to sneak out of the factory with some left over 2.2 motors.
