Contact Sharp. They have to honor the warranty.

for tv repairs it'll have to go through the manufacture, not the retail store u bought it from unless u have something similar to bestbuy's psp.

may i ask which model of the sharp u got? was it the 46" LED that was on sale on boxing day??

aquos lcd model lc46e77un i just started dealing with sharp but the way the warranty works is through gay little tv repair shops that claim to be authorized sharp repair places that cant tell their own ass hole from a hole in the ground so i contacted sharp in mississauga and complained

^ most companies do that, they don't actually get them to ship your damaged product to their own repair depot..
those repair shops dont claim themselves as "Authorized" repair shops... Manufacturers have to authorize/certify them for repairs and should be able to repair your tv..

Good luck with it tho!

funny thing about visions in surrey: My dad used to be the manager when they first opened. Then they fired him with no notice, no reason. Anyways my dad said screw retail and changed careers after that incident. apparently they have been going down hill ever since. i worked in the warehouse over the summer one year when i was in grade 9 or 10. Havent been back since im sure it still sucks.

i bought a 46 inch sharp from the burnaby location in 07. All the sharps from that year had banding on the screens so you can see lines that go vertically that look like smudges on certain backrounds.

I brought it back told the salesman that sold it to me he said bull there is nothing wrong with the tv and he was not returning it. I opened my tv from the box set it up hooked up their dvd player and paused it when I saw the banding, his jaw dropped.

I got my money back, complained to their Head office. The district manager got the sales man to appologize to me and offered me a discount on my next tv purchase. I told them I would never buy anything from them again nor anyone that I know. I have been very happy with my Pioneer 1080P plasma since.

Visions is very shady! Do not buy anything from them.

I buy all my major electronics through Costco. If it breaks, just bring it back. They'll figure something out for you.

+1

also, i find futureshop to be pretty reliable. just dont let them "sell" you anything. know what you want before hand and just go and buy it.

Strange, I had the exact opposite service from Visions in Surrey.

52" Toshiba LCD had a green band on the right hand side, barely noticeable but called Visions. They sent over a tech and said "yep, TV is borked" Two weeks later they called and said "you're covered, come grab a new tv". Paid difference and got 52" LED instead and they let me keep the borked Toshiba.

That being said though, I still find Visions shady. Only reason I dealt with them is because my old man gave me the TV a year after he bought it and upgraded.

THis is standard issue in our industry.

The retailers gnerally only have a 30 day over the counter exchange or return policy at the store level. After that timeframe has passed, you have to deal with the repair shop.
Yes, many of them are lacking the technical skills and adequate service skills, and it can be frustrating.

Hopefully Sharp head office will give you another repair shop to deal with.

They are the ones that will repair it or declare it a lemon. But they never declare things as lemons as it opens up another can of worms between Visions and Sharp Canada, themselves...

I bought my LCD tv from visions 6 years ago and it's still working. I really haven't had any problems with any of the big box stores (visions, futureshop, etc) all the years I've been dealing with them.

btw, if there's a problem with your tv, shouldn't you be taking it up with Sharp and not Visions?

..
that's exactly where the problem is
manufacturers should have their own shops
like car dealers do
while your subaru is on warranty you don't take it canadian tire for repair
well i wouldn't go there even when warranty is long time over

I like your thought process but it will never happen.

You would need a OEM based service shop run in every town in Canada. Can you imagine how expensive it would be for say, Sharp to run 100+ repair shops of their own design across Canada? Too expensive.

Best for a manufacturer to hire the 3rd party guys with reputations and work history and hope for the best. Unfortunately some are 'tough' to deal with.
