Default BMW WMC Test & Tune Autocross day 6/23

Excellent chance to experiment settings for your car on the autocrosses. And of course more seat time!

http://www.wmc-bmwcca.org/event.asp?id=89

I'll be an instructor that day, look for me if you like.

I believe it's $30. Same as the regular WMC autocross events.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. I don't think you even need to pay in advance. Just email lwalsh@wmc-bmwcca.org to reserve a spot.

I used to do it on the bike in under an hour, so 50 mins doesn't seem too far off. Depends upon how many cops are out. :P

I'm wondering about pre registering for this. I've tried emailing lee walsh, but I've gotten no response, Any one have any more info? I want to go to the actual auto-X, but I'd be happy to just do the test and tune. I just don't want to drive all the way up there for nothing.

I don't think BMW membership is required for this test & tune.

Hey everyone. I am instructing at the school. Let me know if you are having trouble getting in touch with Mell or Lee and I will call them for you. Email me at ilium@attbi.com with your name etc. and I'll hook you up. You do not have to be a BMWCCA member for this event(Test and Tune or School), however please read the attached email from Lee Walsh below. I guess NHIS doesnt like us there early anymore.

"Many of you have already signed up for Sunday's event and we look forward to seeing you there. If you have not already signed up, or informed Mell or I that you are coming, please let us know so we can plan accordingly.

There is a change in the schedule for the day. NHIS will not let competitors into the area until 9:00. The instructors, registration, tech and other parties involved with the setup and organization can enter at 7:30.

The weather is going to be hot and sunny. Bring lots of water, sun block, and cool clothing. We are expecting a good turnout of students and T&T people so plan on having a good time.

Lee"

I have about 8 minutes of Scooby seat time now so I'd be happy to instruct you guys. I feel one with the Chi of AWD. I won't teach you how to do the 540 degree spin. That's my secret.

I had a great time thanks to all the instructors, especially Nimbus. You weren't there for my last run, but I got a 121.9 something clean. I was pleased.

Big course? Sounds like you had fun. I'm not out there to beat KC or Joe, just to have fun killing tires.

That is a nice time. I think a certain blue WRX got down to a 120. Heard him say something about his car sucking

I didn't drive too much because I was beat from the school on Saturday. I took the neon on for a fun run at the end of the day and ran a 118.5. Hi.

What did you guys think of the course? I didn't fit on the lot like I wanted it to, but I think it was a pretty fun 2.5 lapper. Especially the decreasing slalom. That third cone is in critical condition right now at the cone hospital.

I apparently ended up with a possible 1:24 by the end, coming from 1:32 at the start. She called out my time as 1:34, which didn't seem right, as it seemed a fast run to me, faster than the last one I just did at 1:27. I talked to her about it and she said it could have been 1:24, but she cleared it or something too early thinking it was a bad time. So, I'm calling it a 1:24. :P

Thanks to Joe for the instruction, it helped a lot.

Great job Sunday, Gravelstar. You picked things up pretty quickly.

The course layout was difficult for WRX's to run good times due to our gearing. Our 1st gear falls just a bit short in two key spots where it didn't make sense to shift up to 2nd. Staying in gear banging off the rev limiter cost us at least a good 2 seconds. Driving the whole course in 2nd gear didn't make sense either because most areas we fall out of boost to make good power.

Thanks Nimbus,
what's your next event going to be? Do you do NER or NESCC events?
