i have a slit in the boot in the inner part of the front passenger axel. ok so heres the problem we can get the inner part to come off but the outer part where its connected to the hub it wont slide off so we jerked on it while the inner part was connected and wouldnt come off so we took off the inner part off tranny and tried to beat the hub with a hammer still wouldnt buge soaked it in pb blaster nothing so im stuck is there something im doing wrong PLEASE HELP. last resort is to take it to the dealer

You need a bigger hammer......really.
Take a 5lb sledge to it and keep an eye on the very end. If it mushrooms too much, grind it down before trying to force it through the splines. Jay |

^^its mushroomed already so i have to grind it down till i can get the axel nut on. im too the point of taking it local subaru dealer and have them deal with it before i tried to take it off they wanted 200$ now i have no idea. this crap always happens to me

Get yourself a punch with a blunt end.
There is a spot in the center of the axle for you to hit with a hammer and punch. That way you wont mushroom the axle anymore than you have. Most mechanics use an air hammer with a blunt attachment to push the axle through. |

Put a pry bar through the studs to keep it from rotating while you crank this down with a long 1/2" ratchet.
