Default Do you have to......

run expensive struts with aftermarket springs?

not really into spending 600 dollars in just struts when i can get springs for 250.

are there any struts that are cheaper for a DD to run with DF210's?

thanks

no. You do NOT have to run expensive struts with springs. What you SHOULD do is run the proper struts for springs.

This is where adjustable struts help as you can hit a wide variety of spring rates with just one damper.

Part of the reason the Tokico d-specs have been so popular is because for the money they are a decent strut, are adjustable, and hit a wide range of springs used on these cars.

Another MAJOR reason they are so popular is because the older cars (02, 03, 04, and even some 05's) are now hitting the point where their stock struts are wearing out (struts and dampers are a wear item). Typical life on a damper is only 50,000 miles.

Now, there are some less expensive dampers on the market such as KYB AGX, and you can give them a shot, but in the end it's up to you.

It really depends on the spring stiffness. I assume you're running the DF210s for your model year car? Those springs rates are soft enough that you could use them with stock struts or stock replacement struts like the KYB Excel-G for just over $300 for a set of 4. Just keep in mind that those springs are really low and at that low of a spring rate its likely that you'll hit the bump stops a lot and you'll significantly reduce the life of your struts.
