Thumbs up Any plans for the weekend? Want an excuse to drive the Sea-to-Sky to Whistler?

If you're looking for an excuse to get away from Vancouver and drive the Sea-to-Sky highway this fine summer weekend, head on up on Sunday August 1st! Why? Because of the Canadian National BBQ Championship happening this weekend!

Normally I wouldn't post anything like this as it really has nothing to do with me or VIC, except for this - our very own local VIC member and moderator Tricky and his team Lucky BBQ will be competing at the event this weekend!

So go out there, enjoy the drive up on Sunday, bring an appetite, donate $5 for the BBQ tasting pass (proceeds go to charity) and vote for Lucky BBQ! (I think there's judges' voting and public voting...)

Go Lucky BBQ!

LaterZ!
Darren!!

Love these events but do NOT bring an appetite...the samplings are so small and line ups so long. Sometimes there will be long stretches before anything is cooked or ready, its not like the "night market" pick and eat that everyone makes it out to be. After all, there is no way they could cook a decent portion for everyone that shows up!

Thanks Penphoe and VIC.
Very true. Unfortunately the more popular the event is, the less there is to go around.
Still, the BEST bbq in the country is to be had this weekend if you are fortunate enough to get a few samples. Sampling starts Sunday at 11:00 am and then on the hour each hour til 2:00.
11:00 Pulled Pork
12:00 Beef Brisket
1:00 Chicken
2:00 Pork Ribs

…and thanks for the birthday wishes!

Having tasted trick's BBQ in the past, I can admit that he is one of the lower mainlands BBQ masters. You inspired me to take my own BBQ up a notch. Good luck man!

And happy b'day too.
