Default EJ20 to EJ25

So i picked up a 98 LGT a week ago, knowing the engine was out the door. When i bought it, I also got an v1 sti ej20 in the deal.

Question is, Can I swap out the ej25 block and heads for the 2.0 block and heads?

Will I be able to use the ej25 ecu and wiring as i'm only using the block and heads?

Suggestions?

Tips?

Thanks

- Shaddy

You may need to swap the crank gear so it matches the original (same teeth count). Most importanly is having the head gear match the same tooth count....

And so long as the crank gear and the head gear match, you have "zero" issues on start up....

good thinking! i'll compare the two and let you know. I'll also check the "fitting" on both cams to make sure they're compatible

you have a EJ205 so you want to swap your N/A EJ25 for that turbo EJ205? If so you will need a stand alone or find a JDM ECU to match the engine. The Ej25 ECU wont control the turbo, fueling, timing etc that the turbo engine demands or requires.
