Default 97 GT auto to manual transmission swap.

Hey everyone. So i put a 411 manual transmission set up in place of the 444 auto in my 97 legacy gt. But ive run into some issues. First one is ive gotta trick the car into thinking its in park so itll start because of the shift lock and such. any ideas?
second is since the manual had a different speedomoter setup it dosnt hook up with mine. The manuals out of a 91. Anybody have an idea to make it work or a different cluster that would?

Thanks!

There are others who have done auto-to-manual swaps, so the info should be available. If you haven't already, try searching/asking in the Transmission & Drivetrain forum, as you might find what you need there.

I was under the impression that the TCU (transmission control unit) was separate from the ECU on the 4EAT cars. If that is the case, potentially stupid question - what happens if you disconnect / secure power to the TCU, so the ECU doesn't see any input from it at all?

Pm fastenova, he helped me do my swap, his car is a 98 gt iirc. If he says he's rusty in the memory dept., I can help you out. Stupid question.....you did put a 4.11 rear diff in your car....right?

As far as your gauge cluster, you are out of luck. Since your older style tranny had a speedo cable, and not a sensor.
