I'll be there on Sunday. Probably driving my friend's GSX since I still haven't gotten my car ready (just being lazy I guess)

I'll be there both days. Got my 15 year old son, Ben into the school, so Sunday will be his first competitive event. Car'll get a workout w/ both of us running it. Looks like its gonna be HOT by Sunday....probably pretty smokey, too.
BTW, the street solo in Cheyenne last weekend was a HOOT.

See ya all there.

So what was it like? Is it basically an autocross through city streets (with curbs instead of cones )?

Maybe I will sign up next time.

Keith,
Yup, an autocross thru the streets. A little over 10 blocks. Curbs and water-filled barriers at a number of places. Cones used in various ways to control speeds and define line; offset gates, heavily lined corners, a 2-block slalom, a Chicago box (actually a Cheyenne trapezoid). One of the interesting aspects was the roughness of the pavement. Some of the folk w/ really stiff suspensions were doing some skipping under both braking and cornering. Have to say, I think the organizers did an excellent job on layout & safety. Another unique aspect was the spectators. Course was well-fenced, w/ course workers alerted to the need to watch out for bozo spectators as well as flying cones. There were only 2 incidents, I think, where someone got a re-run because they came upon someone strolling across the course.
You were very aware that if you really lost it, the consequences would be more than lost time.... Considering the number of cars (135 I think), and runs (4 Saturday, 4 Sunday), the number of incidents was really low; 3 or 4 curb encounters, 3 or 4 barrier incidents. The most significant one was a formula car that got a cone tangled in the RF coming into a hard left-hander. Wouldn't brake or turn much at all; into the barrier; wheel kickback broke his wrist.

All in all, as I said earlier, a hoot! I'm planning on doing it next year. The same folk that put it on are doing one in hastings, Nebraska in August, too. Got too many other things going on at that time to make it, but sounds like they're making quite a civic event out of it; bands, a special showing of the Mario Andretti Imax film, etc.

So do you guys normally fill up with race gas or just 91 octane super? I need to fill up for this weekend's event...

Can you get higher octane gas anywhere in 'Springs?

there's no reason to run any higher octane than needed. Modern ECUs can't even make use of higher octanes than what they were programmed for. Some cars even lose power with the use of higher octane gas. Race gas is a waste of money unless you have put the motor in a situation where it knocks on pump gas (very high boost levels, higher compression ratios than stock, etc.), and if you don't have a knock sensor and a way to log the knock counts you won't know if the motor needs it or not.
