For ford it's a bigger fail.

On Monday all the 'cool kids' will wander to the

Had a subaru won, I still would have been unhappy. I think the fords were absolutely better prepared, they were built specifically for these events. The subies were not. Especially in the rally car event where duplessis had a brand new car to him with tons more power and two extra drive wheels, and Hanson was driving his roa car. The Subaru backed cars were modified roa cars, and that lead to most of their issues.

As far as having a bad trans is concerned, I've been to a few roa events and mirra always always always blows at least one transmission. Its something he does to those things. As far as the engines being week, they were all retuned and rebuilt before this event. They screwed them up before the race started.

Travis's motor blew, then they put a new one in just to get blue smoke out the tail pipe. Great job subaru techs! I REALLY am curious to know which direction subaru is gonna go with their motors. It's like no one can make one run reliably in competition except LIC, hahah.

^subaru does fine with their competition motors. Their cars (other than mirras transmission) do well, and stay reliable. They ruined already built engines to try and squeeze out the 600 hp the fords had. The biggest difference was the regulator on the turbo, which was allowed to be much bigger. Well if you go toss 200 hp on to your engine, see how it does. No engine can handle that for long.

Everyone keeps blaming Subaru. Wouldn't this be Vermont Sports Car's fault? I know the crew are all wearing Subaru shirts also, but aren't they VSC people? I think "Subaru" looked bad, but I don't blame them. My dissappointment is with VSC. What I blame Subaru for is letting Ford come in and take over the sponsership. Subaru has been doing well enough they should have forked the extra green to keep it and advertise the 2011 Impreza.

Subaru just needs to have Prodrive do the cars here also.

IMHO the most entertaining part was the commercial for Dirt 3... Sad, I know. I was sooo excited this year because the last few years of "Rally" at the X Games were actualy fun and exciting just as the X Games 12 clip above.
As far as super rally being the same as rally cross, lies. Even the special stage in Rally Colorado (Was part of rally america.) had a better course layout. Oval track with a jump and hill just dosen't cut it for me. All the Subarus' having mechanical troubles, I'd like to chalk it up to being a part of racing. Odd that a NEW Feista ran better then a platform that has had roughly 3 seasons of rally and events for R&D. I did read that the Fords were built just for the X Games, what does that mean for the Subarus? Were they just Rally America cars that they gave more boost or something to get the "600hp" they claimed? If so, wouldn't VSC have been able to compensate and adjust the car accordingly?
I would imagine if people have 600hp street Subies paid for out of pocket while still being fairly reliable VSC and Subaru should have been able to accomplish the same if not better with their re$ource$.(I understand that the 600hp "Street" cars usualy are not ran at 100% ALL the time.) I dont know, mabey some weird X-Games rules(or lack of) played a factor as well. Like a platform stipulation or something. Sorry it was long winded, I have been furious for the better part of 24hrs because of this haha.

The x games events made a travesty of our sport and Subaruís showing was also very weak. We should start a petition and submit it to ESPN telling them how much it sucked.

not sure if he is or not, but he spent the last year or so over there doing rallycross for ford...wouldnt surprise me in the least if he made the jump next season. But with rallycross catching on due to its ability to be in an arena, he may just stick with that and hope it gets big.

Don't forget that Foust is also very busy with his TV (Top Gear USA, Supercar Shootout), Formula Drift and Movie commitments. WRC is a full-time commitment.

Aside from the crappy courses, Subaru's reliability, and worthless commentating... how about the absolutely awful production?

Like the side by side jump in Super Rally? You know, that one where the commentators got all excited like it was the greatest thing ever as two cars went over "the joker" (WTF is with that name anyway?) at the same time?

Oh, that's right... because we didn't get to see it - except for some crappy after shot from a retarded angle.

Agreed, this years Xgames was total ****e! They did have Boris Said commenting for a little , who is the man actually, but everyone else was completely awkward and out of place. The "Joker" just sounds so "X-TREME" doesnt it? LOLLOL

Yes it would be Vermont Sports Car's fault, they prepared the cars. I'm sure someone from Subaru will be contacting Vermont Sports Car to express their displeasure with what happened. Subaru pays them to run that rally program.

Like others have said, it was apparent that the Fords were built for this type of track. Rally was horrible to watch.

I actually thought that Super Rally was pretty exciting to watch in person. It reminded me of a BMX race with everyone diving into the first corner. True, it was only an oval...but it was much better than Rally.

Thanks for the free swag Subaru!

Coolest cop car ever. City of Bell...haha

I think some of you guys are getting a tad too bent outta shape over this.

Racecars break. Heres a write-up by Veridier, Grammar is a bit iffy, but hey, hes a crazy French guy, plus who really cares .

http://www.drifting.com/forums/gener...tml#post241497

"thank you guys for watching. What a weekend!!!
Small recap of my x-games.
First, yes I drove my drift car. After Seattle we started to put it back in awd. GTI builded some front and rear bumpers, skip plate etc... Then the car went to Crawford for sequential trany, new Garrett turbo (with 45 mm restrictor) remaping etc.. Still with the same engine as FD, stock reflashed ecu and stock differential ecu. I didn't have anti-lag or Launch control (broke off one of the speed censor). The only upgrade from the FD spec where turbo, speed sensors, suspension (Tein wrc), trany (Kaps), and rally wheels (enkei). Brake where and downgrade from STI to stock wrx (so we could fit the small 15 inch rally wheel)
So I pretty much went to the x-games on a $5 budget as usual.
The front bumper was hanging to low and keep braking into the compression, nothing i could do about it. Not design for rally-cross.

Friday practice.
My the second time on the track, they watered it right before i went, i knew it was going to be slippery but not that bad, i lost the car under braking before the bridge under the ramp and crash the back of the car into the K-rail (didn't loose my drift). It was so bad that i had to take the car to the frame shop that night to get it back straight.

Saturday qualifying. Qualify 2nd, only Pastrana was faster, but crashed the car right after the finish line, went to wide into the marbel and in the k-rail again, and destroyed the car. Right front frame rail moved into the engine and broke the front timing pulley and locked the engine. Good thing we had 5 hours to fix it. A chain and a truck and we pulled the frame of the engine. rebuild the front part of the engine and hoped that no valve got bent. engine restarted perfect. I also bent and cracked the left rear hub (no spare). ran the car in comp with positive camber on that wheel.
we zipped tied the car back together for the comp so it could look nice for the first 10 feet.

First round. Went well, because of my seeding (2) i had first pick at the gate, car was awesome no problem.

Finals. Still first pick at the gate since Pastrana was out i was the highest seed.
1 min from start i notice that my hanz device wasn't attached to my helmet. spend the next 50 sec putting it on, then they sign me 10, 10, 10 witch they didn't do in the first round, so i thought they meant 10 min delay (dum *Censored**Censored**Censored* that I'am), no it was 10 sec to start. i realize it went i hear Tanner's engine going into launch mode. I was like " oh s&%$t!!, put the car back in 1st, switch all the fan on and when i looked at the light it was go time. I was a second late and left the line last.
First corner Tanner and Deagan went wide and i was able to cut back in the inside and still the corner from Deagan. Nice drag race down the stadium. We touched at least 4 time. That was awesome. The next 3 laps I was closing on Tanner, then I started to loose some power, I thought Deagan pushed me and bent my exhaust, but one of my intercooler pipe that got bent during my crash in qualy crack and start braking. Right after the big jump it just let go and lost all power, i barely made it to the top of the stadium, Deagan passed me and between the arch Sam try to pass me on the outside but i was able to friendly block him, going down to the finish the car wouldn't go and Sam passed me 100 feet from the finish. I was so pissed, but looking at the all experience it was awesome. Especially that 5 hours earlier my car and engine where in pieces.
Fun time, now time to fix the car AGAIN for FD vegas.

Thanks to all my sponsors, Cooper tires (awesome rallycross tire), Crawford performance, GTI, Tein, Clutch Masters, Enkei, Ignite racing fuel, Subaru of Ontario, Sparco, Apr, Von Zipper, Motul, K&N, Seibon...

And yes we did do 5 laps, tv score was off."

I think the Director dropped the ball on this one as well. Every other call the announcers made was out of the shot and every other shot was obscured by dirt and dust clouds.

As far as who cares is concerned, I agree it's a big fuss over a made for tv event, but its what the general public sees. Rally in America is still small and under-appreciated, and i would really like to see the sport grow. Events like this should HELP that cause, but i think this weekend really did the opposite. On top of that, we all obviously have a Subaru bias here, and it sucks to see such a poor showing, especially because this WAS a big public event for the sti.

For those of you complaining the ford's were built for this... the subaru's were as well. don't know if any of you receive the "drive" (I believe it's called that) magazine that comes to Subaru owners about once every 2 months or so from the company, but the most recent magazine had an article how vermont sports car was building the subaru's for x-games from the ground up. so in fact it was designed for the x games event. granted all the article said was that they reduced weight and slapped about another 100 hp in it. i wouldn't exactly call it a groundbreaking build but it wasn't just a rally america subaru. and i am not supporting ford here, I am a Subaru guy.

none the less, worse thing I have ever witnessed and a huge disgrace to the sport of rally, all 3 car manufacturers involved, and to the drivers who were made to look like amateurs. next year leave the rallying to the pro's and stick to what you do best...covering sporting events (even that is a bit shaky)
