Default JDM BG5 body kits

Really trying to find some Hippo Sleek body parts(sides, rear) for my BG5. I am open to other jdm companies. Anybody know of a distributor in the US??

Hipposleek...

Are you sure you want to toy with that oxymoron of a company?

I'm going to pipe up, as a self proclaimed JDM feind, and point out one thing:

Just because it's JDM... Doesn't mean it's good.

I just like the way their kit looks. I am open to suggestions though

TBH, they didn't really make many good kits for the BG's, sadly. Most come out too angular/pointy and 'GTRish'. The BG is a nice smooth curvey body, and a body kit should maintain that... But do look into zerosports and RFRB if you're into that sort of thing. It's just the hipposleek wing is revolting, and anyone cought wanting one needs a slap :P Hence my original comments.

Heres a Syms kit, quite nice...

Take a look here, it's a good compilation.
http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic....=8624&start=30

Personally, i'd go for stock GTB or GTB Limited... But, to each their own.

GTB Limited:

Reuben,
is there an actual full kit from RFRB for the BG/BD? or is it just the grill and the wing?

CorbanDallas,
here's a pic of the Chargespeed kit, which i've been able to find pretty easily on Yahoo a few times:

dunno about the hipposleek though. I'm sure you're aware that you can get replicas of the front bumper and the grill all over eBay.

and just for reference, here's what the standard kouki GT-B front end looks like:

note the absence of the big circular foglights. the sides also don't strake out like on the Limited. also, the standard GT-B foglights don't have colored overlays on them. I think that Chargespeed mainly makes lip kits, so that kit will require the kouki GT-B front bumper. you can find those on eBay all the time (the GT-B bumper that is).

you could also go with the earlier zenki front end, which looks like this:

not terribly exciting, i'll admit, but being all factory pieces, it does at least compliment the body lines well. that front lip is notoriously hard to find, but a lot of US cars did have them.

damn those last two cars are sexy!
(sorry to everyone who is sick of seeing those pics!)

Thanks for the help guys. I deffinately want going with the Hippo wing, lol. The Syms kits is very nice too. Any US vendors? As of right now I have a US gt front bumper w/ jdm fogs, gt rear bumper lip and gt rear spoiler. Working on gt sideskirts. The gt-b limited is very nice too. What do those usually cost? Still trying to save up for the twin turbo swap too.

IF you can find a GT-B limited bumper (they were rare even in Japan), you're looking at upwards of $600+ with shipping. at least that's what I see them going for, and most of those tend to be pretty messed up. I saw one go on ebay for like $350, but that was 3 years ago i think, and that was a fluke.

you'll need the JDM bumper beam to mount any of the JDM bumpers, they won't line up on the USDM bumper beam (i tried, many times!). most of the time when you buy the JDM bumper though, you get the beam with it.

i happen to have a set of sideskirts for sale, PM if you're interested.

Oh well, i tried. To each their own.

And yep, RFRB do a bumper, i couldn't find a good pic, and i think there may be a pre and post face lift from them.

And that one legacy, got a thread i can keep track of that beautiful car of yours on?

Do any of the kits out there increase performance, or are they all aesthetics??

I believe that Chargespeed is actually known to produce body kits that are tested in a wind tunnel and proven to improve downforce and overall aerodynamics. probably most of the other kits out there aren't going to offer much though.

Reuben, i don't have any build threads, i just like to take pics every now and then. honestly, there probably won't be too much more going on either car cause i'm trying to go back to school (again), so my money is being set aside for that. by the time i'm done with all that, maybe i can do something else on the cars, but we'll see.

there used to be a SYMS Legacy running around Portland, Oregon about 10 years ago. It made me want a Legacy. Wonder what happened to it...

Hi there My names Daniel and I recently purchased a 2000 legacy gt limited automatic a couple months ago from a elderly gentleman that had upgraded to a new Subaru. I have been reviewing alot of the info that can be found here on the forum but though I would go ahead and ask, what are some "must-needed" upgrades? I am not extremely mechanically inclined but would like to push a little more power when taking off from a stop as it seems like the car is more of a geo metro when it comes to take off. Also I would like to upgrade the stock wheels, but not sure what wheel size I should go with. I really would love some great advice from some of you all! I would really appreciate it! Any tips or advice welcome! I'm located in the San Antonio, Texas area

Easy living

Back on topic.

Most of the few kits available, if not hard to find, are extremely spendy.

Then there is the concern if something is damaged can you find a replacement. My current front lip and jdm bumper is a pain (although I do think it looks good).

Last time I checked the SYMS sideskirts were near $1000.

Fully outfit your car with these body kit parts and I think you are well on your way toward a turbo swap.

Even after the turbo swap, there is other stuff. Race seats, bigger turbo, better intercooler. Ah, it never ends. Not sure if I'll get to the point where I can justify the body parts. Even though I want them.

If I could get my hands on a Zero/sports bumper for the BD i would be the happiest boy alive. I think I am going to do a 09 front end conversion since its cheaper...
