Default Starter troubles? not starter, now what?

Wifes car a 06 Saab 9-2x, was fine. She drove it to the store and it wouldnt start when she left. I tried to jump it no good, it acted like a dead battery. My son and I was able to push start it and drive it home. I pulled the battery and took it to Autozone and had them test it, everything passed. So i pulled the starter and took that down to be tested it passed, but the gear didnt initially draw back into the house after the voltage was removed. A little oil solved that.

We re installed the starter and it still doesn't start, nothing, I tried to get a voltage reading at the starter solenoid on the lead from the ignition switch and couldn't get a reading.

I am thinking ignition switch? These arent cheap parts so does any have any ideas before I start switching them out.

Thanks
Ed

**update**

I put the starter back in and fed power to the ignition power in on the solenoid, guess what? It started. So it is either the ignition switch or the clutch safety switch, how should I check these? Is there a fuse that I am missing? There is no voltage at the yellow wire to the starter even with the clutch depressed. Can I bypass the safety switch?

Check the starter safety switch on the clutch pedal. It could be bad, out of adjustment or the floor mat could be preventing the pedal from going down far enough to activate it.

My clutch switch just died on me too. To test that just unplug it(top one, as their is 2 there). Put paper clip between the pins and done. If you want replace the switch its like $17 from subaru or just leave the paper clip there.Been doing that for a while. Won't need clutch to start car but don't forget when you leave it in gear though.

mine failed on my as well. I just took it apart, bent the internal clips so that it has more tension and it's been working fine ever since.
