Default Question for the RMIC, bugeye fuel smell...

Hey ladies and gents,
Just curious if anyone out there, specifically in Utah, have had there WRXs fixed through the extended warranty to fix the raw fuel smell (Documented well in this thread) Just curious if anyone had good/bad experiences with the local dealers, got hassled about aftermarket parts etc. There are plenty of good/bad stories in the thread but none of them local from what i saw. My VIN falls in the affected range but i never got a letter so i'm just looking to see what everyones experiences have been.

The reason you didn't get a letter is because Utah isn't listed as an affected state. Though the same problem does exist (had it in my 02 WRX as well). I would speak with the tech manager at a dealership, or with SOA and see if the fix can be done for you.

They supposedly extended the warranty past the original 16 "cold weather" states because i have friends who received letters/had it done in Arizona.

Good idea, i never even thought that i couldn't tell if they had fixed it or not if it wasn't cold yet.

Ah well there you go. If a letter isn't sent to contact you, contact them. No harm in initiating it yourself. And very good advice on waiting until it gets cold again to have it done.

i had it done in american fork in Utah at the suby dealership there, had to pay for it and soa sent me a reimbursement check. this was before they started the warranty work stuff. i told them it was leaking a lot and the issue was well documented and that i didn't want to be the one wrx that lit on fire on the freeway potentially causing multiple deaths and being the car to have changed it from a tsb to a recall.

act concerned, you should be. IT'S GAS LEAKING IN YOUR ENGINE BAY! just don't be a douche, be genuinely concerned and you'll get it taken care of.

stg 2 wrx. out of warranty(105k miles)
the dealership commented about the up-pipe. but an up-pipe can't cause a fuel issue, so it's not something they can argue. they will argue it none the less but there's some law that says they can't void a warranty unless the after market part caused the failure.
