hmm....are they HIDs? if it were me the first thing i would check out would be the lights themselves, ballasts, wiring, switch, and stuff along those lines because i would wonder if that is what caused the battery to discharge in the first place. A short in the headlight circuit would discharge a battery pretty quick.

well that'll do it also lol. um...I don't know much about HIDs but if someone who knows more can chime in would losing charge while on kill the balasts? if not then idk. check cheapest stuff first, see if fuse looks blown or if bulbs look burnt.

If the brights are working this means the fuses are ok. It sounds like you have a problem with the combination switch for the lights.

I am not positively sure about how long the headlights stay on in our 08-11 subies but thankfully I never had a chance to "check" it. For all I know, if you leave your keys in the ON position and your headlights are on, the headlights would stay on until the battery dies.

Its possible that as your battery was draining with the lights on, the lights began to flicker. That flickering is the ballast struggling to keep the arc in your bulb going. This is baaaad for ballasts.

Since your other lights work fine and your car runs after the charge (make sure its at least 12v when not running), then your headlamp ballasts and/or bulbs are dead.
