Default new 09 Impreza, what mods should I do

I am not looking to make alot more power all i want is a little more exhaust sound and a better drop in filter. So my question is should i go with a full cat back or just get 2 mufflers welded on in place of the factory mufflers. There is a guy on ebay selling magnaflow cat backs for $510. Would going with a full cat back give me better fuel mileage over just 2 mufflers or would it be the same. That cat back is 2.5'' from what i have read you want 2.25-2.5'' with the n/a. Also should i go with the avo panel filter or the apexi.

You shouldn't just put mufflers, it wouldnt make a difference performance wise, just sound. There are a few people on the forum running the AVO. There is actually a thread on High-flow panel for the 08-10. Also do you a manual or automatic. You could get a tune on 93 octane if you have a manual, and if you have an automatic they are in the process of supporting us for tuning. You could take a look at the thread named "the bad boys of phat botti tuning"

I actually have a 2009 impreza, and am doing a full header-back. I also have an intake, and getting a tune on 93 octane.

OK.I also have an auto. I know you probably heard a lot of negative things about k&n filters, but i have personally used them in vehicles for thousands of miles without issues. I actually had a k&n filter that I used for about 5,000 miles. I don't use it anymore since I have an intake. I would sell it you for like $25 obo. PM if you,re interested.

Read the NA exhaust thread "sticky" up above. It will have a lot of good information in it. If all you want is sound, then mufflers will do the trick. You could go with an used OEM WRX cat-back. It won't cost much (mine cast me $70), but it also will only give you a little more sound.

Still you could start with the OEM WRX cat-back, so you get a boost to 2.25-2.5 inch piping, then add the mufflers to that.

I've got an AVO panel filter an like it alot.

While you are modding, I would get a rear sway bar. You don't have one stock, and it makes a profound change in the car's handling. If you go with the OEM WRX sway, you can get one for around $100. You may need endlinks if it doesn't come with them, and you will need to get the mounting brackets and bolts from your dealer. It's a pretty easy DIY. For me, I would do this before the exhaust. It's a much bigger bang for your buck.

You can also get a rear sway bar from a lot of aftermarket manufacturers, but it will cost more.

Just as a note, the WRX and 2.5i rear sway bars are interchangelable, but the front ones are not. You'll have to get a 2.5i specific bar if you want to upgrade your front sway bar.

I actually have a custom intake that I built myself. But cosmoracing sells them, but they are currently out of stock, and avo also has one.

Doesn't the stock air box get cold air from right under the hood? were the scoop looking thing do a good job, or is the avo option really all that much better then a avo panel filter. seems like it would suck more hot air in then the stock one, or is it all the same just with a open filter you get the sucking sound.

I don't know about the avo one, but I used to have a K&N panel filter, and I changed out to a custom intake, and it makes huge difference after 3500rpm.
