Need better lights for my 2000 RS.

Hello everybody.

I have been trying to find information about the stock light bulbs and what options do we have to replace them for brighter ones.

I have seen that you can put different bulb sizes on other imprezas (like H11 on the 09s) but I do not know about the GC.

Could somebody guide me a little about what size & brand bulb get for brighter low beams? I tried looking on the forums, but the best post I found about this dated back to 04!

I guess I will get the 9003SU SilverStar Ultra. They seem to sell them at Pep boys.

This thread helped me a lot. Read the section about Silverstars in particular. If you still like the looks of them, then go for it I guess. It's not hurting anybody else.

How do your headlight lenses look like? If they got foggy, you can improve things a LOT with some elbow grease and Plasti-X polish. Or, for a more complete solution, increasingly fine sanding, then polishing.

Crap. Im sorry, I meant to buy the OSRAM Silverstars. Which I used in my car back in Spain. I forgot they were different in here and I just messed myself up for a while on this topic.

Good I didnt buy any yet.

I read that post when I wanted to change the lights on my 09 WRX, and I read it again for this 2000 RS. I just needed a little more info specific to the RS (such as the bulb number, which I could not find).

Since I cannot get the HIRs for this car, I guess the best option is to buy the OSRAM online?

The headlights look REALLY clear. Much clearer than the side markers (the turn signals). So I think the previous owner changed them or washed them at some point.

Awesome tutorial. I am saving the PDF, but will not try for now just in case. If I crack the headlight and am not able to put it back, I would be in trouble since it is my DD. Besides, I also read about the downsides of retrofitting...

if you want a cheap but amazing performance lamp, i suggest the hella 60mm projector lowbeams. of course, you have to get separate highs if you do this but they are much much nicer than any other solution south of $250.

you can retrofit with them as easily as any other projector and the bulbs are already well over the output of any other osram ss ultra fitment, eons beyond the 9003 lowbeam. or, encase them behind an optic acrylic cover and mount them in the grill as aux lights. they'll do just as well and you can keep your headlamps intact. they're already sealed, so they just need a front cover to avoid glare inducing pitting and chips.

I am going to look for information on what you recommended (tutorials and such). Because I have no clue on how to separate the low and high beams or retrofit at this point.

I would buy luminics bulb. Thats what I had i my 09 impreza.Im not sure how they would work in your car. But they were much brighter than the stock halogen bulb.
