Default Issue with brights

All of the sudden, one of my brights stays on during normal operation, and when the brights are turned on, it goes off. Its only on the driver's side. Its acting as if the function for the driver side bright is completely reversed. No changes have been made recently, no bulbs changed or anything. DRL has been disabled for years. Any ideas?

This is an 04 wrx

If no one else has a suggestion, my approach would be to diagnose.

Remove the highbeam relays
Test the relays
Test the leads to the relays

Come back with results. This is an interesting problem.

But to be sure, your high beams are doing something like this--?-->

High beams are -o when lights/everything are off(car running, though), and o- when highs are on. indeed

A short somewhere? Subies use a switched ground system, which means that a short on the -ve side actually turns things on. Either that or you enabled your wig-wag Police Package

There may be a backfeed problem due to a blown fuse for the left side light. Check the fuses under the hood for the headlights. If you have any doubts on the fuse try reversing the left and right side fuses to see if that changes things.
