Default 08+ 2.5i intake silencer/resonator?

I've been looking around here and some of the other Subie forums about cheap ways to get a better and louder sound from the car. It seems like the intake silencer/resonator delete is pretty popular, but it seems like it's only done on the older models.

I was wondering if anyone knew about a resonator/silencer on the new 08+ intake that is easily removable. Or maybe some other way to make my car louder without buying a fart can muffler.

Just remove the white milk jug from under the air filter box.

You loose power down low with out a tune. On my 06 with cai I actually gain across the powerband with accessport running the brains. Tune is a must. Down low is 1st gear 1,200-2000 rpm. Who ever drives at those rpms should buy a yaris lol mid and top end are better. But if your looking just for sound.....why not just swap the exhaust canister with one with no baffles. Our not tuned and your gona just run lean if u remove airbox and res. Lmao

Don't take that helmholtz resonator out LEAVE IT IN! That "jug" holds a specific volume of air that your ECU likes to think is present at a certain engine load and RPM when you take that away it causes bad things or the lean variety and over time that is no good. If you really want to spice up the intake tract replace the ruffled tubing btwn the MAF sensor that the air box with smooth aluminum piping and couplers.

Over my experiences, it's best to leave it in. Really, with the stock MAF intake systems, it's best to leave them stock or do a hybrid (which is very close to stock and doesn't upset the ECU).

Now if you're tuning it, there are better CAI and even SRI options. With tuning those, you can tell the ECU what to do with them, fully taking advantage of their power.

If you want some 'cheap' sound. Try getting a muffler/axleback installed. It might run you $200-300 for a nice one, but that's what you're looking for.

Thanks guys, will definitely leave my intake alone. I just saw that it was popular on the older models and didn't know if anyone even did it on the newer ones. I'll just save my money for real mods. I might buy an AVO panel filter though. I hear those are good.
