Default HELP!... lights dim, led.. not sure whats going on ??

So I noticed tonight, that my map lights, dome lights.. seem to be on half the juice or something. Only the passenger side red footwell lights partially, the key ring light does not light as well, and when I open the door with the running.. the cluster lights will dim a bit also the door chime to remind me that the lights are on if the car is off no longer chimes... any insight on this? Im clueless when it comes to electrical stuff.

Could it be the BIU ( Body integrated unit)??

I have switched the following, led dome, map lights, led plate light and hatch light, led drl, led fog lights and hid kit... I'm pretty sure it has been working.. up untill tonight...

Any insight, I have checked the lighting fuses.. not really sure where to go from here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Didn't realize you had this problem when you posted on tsxgraphite's thread. This does not sound like a fuse problem. You've got a little too much LED going on in your car for one...personally I wouldn't go for LED for any of the road illumination lights.

It sounds like your problem might be all the LEDs on the interior of the car. Try to switch your interior illumination back to the regular incandescent bulbs first. My thinking is that the interior LEDs are using a resistor to drop the voltage from 12v to a lower voltage to run the LED's. Basically anything downstream of the resistor will have a diminished voltage.

Restrict voltage and you'll get dimmed lights, attenuated sound (chime), etc.

It would be a little weird for Subaru to do the wiring like this for these symptoms to happen, my suggestion would be the easiest to test for now.

Nevermind. Im retarded.

When I hardwired my radar detector, I removed what I thought was a spare fuse from the relay panel.... hahaha. All is well. Will now have to re install the led lights hahaha

Close thread..

Appreciate the insight though!

Sorry to change the topic of this post, but what is the Body Integrated Unit and where can I find it? I had my impreza repaired at dealership and the cause was a bown 10 amp fuse for the BIU. Couldn't ask the service person cause I picked up car after regular hours.
