Hey I apologize as this is a cross post, but nobody answered it when I posted it under EM/tuning and I wasn't sure if it was just a bad spot to place it so i thought i'd mention it under N/A also...

I drive a 2008 impreza 2.5i and am looking to get a few minor power gains. I know Cobb discontinued their AP for n/a cars but I also know they have a few maps already out and that from a tuner I could get a custom tune through it. RalliTEK has like 40 APs left so I know I could get one there.

All I really plan on doing to my car performance-wise (after that strictly suspension mods) is getting an AVO intake and an exhaust and eventually Rallitek cams. Would it be wise to get the AP because it covers these things or would it be smarter to just go open source? I don't know much at all about tuning and it seems the AP would be an easy way to change my tune myself as I can afford the bolt ons/cams but I'd appreciate an experienced tuners advice of whether it'd be a good or stupid buy.

Get a Tactrix cable and have PhatBottiTuning E-Tune you.

I think the AP at Rallitek only is for Manual 08's only. It wouldn't work with an automatic car.

Default Ap

That's fine with me I have a manual 5 speed (did I suggest otherwise?).

09Suby I considered it but I'm more fond of either getting the AP or getting a tactrix cable and taking my car to a local tuner (agile auto/andrewtech, et al). E-tunes are rather risky IMO especially with my limited experience.

Thanks for the advice guys!

go for it. The factory headers are the bottleneck so a set of good EL's is where you can get the most power for one mod. Unfortunately they are super expensive. Don't bother with UEL's if you are going to tune and want to max the power potential, the factory headers are as good as the UEL's from borla as far as power goes. Have fun, don't get ur hopes up for big power. Opensource will make u smarter and understand your car and how its EFI system works more than the AP, but both will be able to make more power. OS is cheaper and able to do some things that AP can't. AP can change some tables on-the-fly, which OS can't do.
