Default Need help with turbo?

I have an 02 wrx. The turbo is leaking oil on the exhaust side, through a shaft on the top that goes to a solenoid type thing. What are my options? Is it repairable or rebuildable? Am I able to fix it myself? [IMG][/IMG]

I don't even think there is suppose to be oil there. was it oil that you dripped on from pulling the tranny oil stick?

I took the heat shield off to see where it was coming from. Its slowly seeping out from where the shaft is coming out of the turbo.

Is your exhaust blue?

The only way oil could be coming out of there is if its leaking inside the turbo. Otherwise that oil is coming from somewhere else and collecting there some how.

I haven't noticed the exhaust being blue. I only noticed it because it was dripping on to my axel and kicking up on to my down pipe, there for causing it to smoke out my hood scoop.

I'm guessing then I'll have to rebuild it then.
Has anyone rebuilt there turbo? Is it worth rebuilding? Cost? or is it better to find one in good working order?

I'm not sure if the TD04 on your car is rebuildable at home or not, but I do know that you can get them redonkulously cheap on the forums. Post up a WTB in the classifieds and see if anyone has one for like $100

Alternatively, this could be a great excuse for an upgrade!
