Default Where to get decent supplies for car cleaning?

Are retail stores like Autozone or Pepboys good place to get them? A dealership? Private owned parts shop? Order through my mechanic?

www.detailersdomain.com and www.autogeek.net are great online boutiques and you can find coupons to get a few bucks off of your order.

Walmart generally doesn't have much going besides Meguiar's and Mother's stuff, which isn't BAD it's just pretty overpriced for the quality you get from it. However, I have seen walmart sell the Autoglym HD wax, which has great reviews even from professionals.

Autozone/AdvanceAuto/Oreilly's/whatever local auto parts chain you have near you will probably have the same selection as walmart.

If you can, buy online.

.....there are plenty of good products that can be found in a retail store and unfortunately a few folks may overlook them simply because they are OTC (which is really a shame).

Here are a few examples off the top of my head: Clay Magic (clay), Collinite (#845 IW, #476s, #915), Meguiars (UC, Scratch-X, Swirl-X, Gold Class soap, etc.), Duragloss (Aquawax, #902 Car Wash Concentrate & most of their product line), AutoGlym (HD, SRP, etc.), Eagle One (A2Z wheel cleaner), 303 (Aerospace Protectant, Cleaner & Spot Remover), Mother's (Mag & Aluminum Polish), Zep (carpet care products), etc., etc., etc.

I guess my point is that there are quite a few products available through B&M stores that can be just as good or better in some cases than a lot of boutique offerings. ....price and value can also be better via retail in several cases. Personally, I buy most of my stuff online but several of my supplies can also be found at your local retailer. It really depends on what you are looking for.

The only place most of the time is online. I have went through detailers domain for my pads and meguire products and they were quick on shipping. They also have lots of coupons online

Couldn't agree more! I have a wide range of over the counter items (like the Stoners Invisble Glass, Mothers Aluminum Polish, Meguiars Quik Detailer & Meguiars Clay Bars) and stuff that I get online or at local auto body supply stores.

+1 for Adams very good customer service and most of their products are pretty good. Little bit pricey but all their products are made in USA if you care for that sort of thing.

If you're in the southwestern PA area. Autoality is in the Monroeville Mall.

Detailed Image, they run daily, weekly, and monthly specials unlike detailers domain that only runs them during holidays. They carry mostly everything DD does minus swissvax and if you live in the tri-state you'll have your package the next day.

I would highly recommend Zaino products for detailing. I detail and do paint repair as a side-job and have tried many different products and nothing protects and lasts as long as theirs.

....no offense, but I can't see how anyone can honestly make this sort of claim about a product. The fact is that it protects and lasts better than anything you have tried.

I have been a Zaino user for many years. I still like and use some of their products but I would never make that sort of claim about their lineup. There are simply far too many products out there to compare it to. Even professional detailers in most cases have only tried a small percenatge of all of the products available on the market. Browse through the various detailing forums and you can see several examples of folks getting similar or better durability with other LSP's. Yes, products like Zaino Z-2 & Z-5 provide excellent durability, but they are not alone. ....at the very least, it's arguable.
