Default Quick Hella 500 question

I'm going to wire up my hella fogs and noticed that the directions may be incorrect. The directions have the blue wire coming out of the back of the lamp as the ground and the black as the power. But, after putting new bulbs in, the blue wire went directly to the bulb while the black when to the metal housing around the bulb.

If my assumptions are correct, the blue should be the power and the black the ground?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was planning on just using the stock wiring harness for now until I upgrade bulb wattage. My plan is to wire the connector from the stock lamps to the hellas (plug and play/removable). Seeing as I'm not sure which is the power (blue or black lead coming from the lamp) I don't want to continue.

As a side note, I know that there is voltage drop with the OEM harness, but I'll worry about that later.

I got an email back from Hella this morning stating that it was safe to follow their wiring diagram even though it seems backwards to me. Then again, I'm not an expert.

Since no one has chimed in, I hope this info is correct and can clear up confusion for people in the future.

black is always ground, and ya hella does use blue for power

i've done it the way you intended on my lights for the fogholes.. i bought the other side of the harness though and then connected

their diagram to install the lights is for them to work independently.. that works too, of course

Thanks. I ended up wiring it just like the stockers (blue as power). Thanks for the info.
