Default Interesting conversation on NPR - choose one superpower: invisiblility or flight!

As found in OT: thought I would bring it here for those who dont venture out of VIC often....

Quote:
The conversation went all over the place - lots of interesting physcology behind the decision a person makes, so I'm curious what people here choose.

If you could choose ONE of the the two, which would it be and why?
No loopholes, no exceptions, you're the only person in the world with this power.

Flight for sure.

Most commercial airlines don't go 1000 MPH. So why even bother sneaking on to flights?

Plus i live on the island so sneaking on to a ferry for free or getting to the mainland in about 3 minutes.

yah flight totally. Invisibility would be cool but you still move super slow and can't get anywhere faster.

remember the rules of the poll:

flight top speed is 1000 mph, can't carry nothing

invisibility only covers clothes

also you are the only one in the world with this power

I'd say flight because you would need to be invulnerable to be at that speed lol.

Cool question. How many times have you thought "I'd like to be a fly on the wall in that meeting"! Information is power and you can get a lot of it being invisible.

But flying has always been a dream as a kid. Just gotta watch out for electric cable wires after a few wobbly pops, flying over police road blocks.

I know it's just a comic book type of scenario, but injecting a bit of reality into it... both of these powers have their flaws.

Flight at 1000km/h
- your skin/clothes would be susceptible to debris, birds, weather elements, air resistance.
- you haven't surpassed the sound barrier yet... fighter jets/Iron Man can still overtake you.
- can't carry anything, so you won't be able to have those Superman/Lois Lane moments in the air.

Invisibility
- are you permanently invisible? If so, that sucks (watch Darkman played by Liam Neeson).
- you can still make sounds and manipulate matter (footprints in water, paint in your face) so you aren't completely undetectable.
- Superman will do you in the butt because he thought he was doing Wonder Woman.
- the novelty of being invisible wears off pretty quickly.. c'mon, how many naked chicks in the shower can you see before getting bored?

I think depending on altitude 1000km/h could be faster than the sound barrier. I read that somewhere, I might be wrong...
Flying high or over an ocean would be very cold. Wind chill would be a factor, so you would have to bundle up. I think the cant carry anything is a bit off. Id say you could probably carry what you would be able to naturally carry with things like fatigue being a factor.

I think the possiblity of being invisible anytime you wanted would be better imo. You could do anything, not just spy on chicks in the shower. I mean you could walk into a bank or a office building and just go invisible and watch over meetings and learn information about stuff you wouldnt ever know. You could watch lectures at university and get a free education. You could go in mansions or celebrities houses and get things like signed footballs or other cool stuff that is expensive or tough to aquire. Walk into a movie theater for free or concerts or night clubs.

I guess the invisiblity would lead to a life of crime but the flying would get old quick. Ya so what, you can fly, wanna fight about it?!

Invisibility for sure, a bird to the face at 1000mph can't feel good.

Plus all the pranks you can think of when no one can see you.
