Default Turbo configuration

I am currently driving a 2009 impreza wrx. Got a blown turbo, and am in need of a new one. Only issues i am having are finding if i need the TGV delete with a FP Green, or their 71HTA. I have found very good deals with these turbo's and they are seemingly better than the stock VF52. Just kind of wondering if they are stock replacement, and as long as I stay away from the 84mm housing, will i be ok without deleting the TGV, and still maintaining factory bolt on??

might as well delete the tgvs if youre doing a bigger turbo anyways. That way you can get it all tuned at once. If the turbo calls for a 3" inlet then you would need to remove the tgv motors fo sho

that's my thought. but for a military man on a tight budget who also needs a LF bearing, and rear brakes, tearing in for all that seems a bit much right now. Granted being a master ASE tech for 12 years makes these jobs easy, I still cant afford all that right now. perhaps when i get my AP3 ill do the TGV delete and the catless DP

I guess im still wondering if anyone has run either the FP green or the 71HTA and had any factory fitment issues, whilst still having the TGV's. I got a guy on the line with a used vf52 for $500, but if a newer, warrantied correctly fitted turbo will work, i may spend the extra few hundred for a good piece of mind

what are your power goals a vf52 can get you close to 300 whp with a good tune and a good exhaust system. also the wrx turbo uses a differnt turbo housing than the sti after 2008. here are 2 links of similar size turbos the first is like the vf52 the second is like the traditional sti

do you have bigger injectors and a fuel pump? anything other than stock will need both. you will also need a custom tune.

What city/state do you live in? You are, so far, talking crazy talk and will blow up your car within 18 seconds and waste a perfectly good new turbo. If your OEM turbo IS blown, you replace it with a new or used OEM turbo and you DO NOT just randomly replace the turbo with what sounds cool, your buddy has, or is on sale for $300 as a new turbo requires injectors, fuel pump, and tuning or you will launch all 4 pistons out the fenders of your car. Replace with OEM and grab a pen and paper and plan a future build slowly and methodically...if I know where you live, I might be able to point you to a good local shop for help.

To answer your question about TGVs - you can keep them or remove them. The gains will be marginal if removed, but it's good practice to do so during an engine build.

I am stationed at Fort Gordon, which is near Augusta GA. and yes i do have a bit of supporting mods already. catback, 750cc injectors, walbro pump, CAI, tune (stage 1, but hey its something to supports the 750s). I bought it used, so im wondering if the original owner had some **** on there and then removed it to sell it back.
