Saw this marvel on Sunday.. Was verrrry nice!! You would think since subaru put wider fenders that they would put some wider wheels and tires! lol I told chano, that it only need wheels and tires to flush it out, just a tad bit lower, and 3'' exhaust all the way back with those quattro tips flush with the rear bumper. other than that!! Its perfect.

A year ago Thursday I bought my first WRX, non-STI, the first one in Alaska. It's been an insane year with me crashing her and trying to sell her, but she's still here, faithful to the end. hahaha
Inspired by brickak's post in a different thread, I thought I'd share some pics of the changes that have occurred over the past year, as well as a list of mods done and planned still. Unfortunately the first pic I have to share is the most heart-breaking one: ![]() At this point I had installed RA flaps, Group N transmission mounts, front and rear shifting bushings and Kartboy shift knob. Full-coverage helped get my baby back on the road after about 3 weeks and she was complete in about 5. Debaged trunk and grille: ![]() ![]() Got STI wheels put on using adapter spacers and had the windshield replaced in the spring: ![]() At this time I believe retrac had the car tuned and we had the COBB heatshield and downpipe installed. Car was mean, but it looked confused. ![]() Very quickly after the wheels swap I traded trunks with Rookie J and went wingless: ![]() ![]() ![]() I enjoyed looking like a wingless STI, but I felt more like a base WRX. Eventually my group buy trunk lip spoiler arrived and I installed that: ![]() The uniqueness of the lip has grown on me a lot. As she sits now: ![]() She done me proud so far! My eventual mod list includes: 08-10 STI front bumper with Sport Grille and fog light surrounds CCA window tint Cobb SF and Intake Tail light tint (medium smoke) Pioneer AVH-P8400BH Windshield wipers (better ones) MBQuart speaker replacements STI side mirrors Front lip for 2008-2010 STI front bumper and stock bumper Master brake cylinder STI Brembo brakes (used) JDM STI TS trunk lip Sway bars with endlinks Engine dress-up Shark fin antenna replacement (body-colored) HIDs for foglights (or just brighter bulbs) Paint fender badge or JDM carbon fiber badge replacement JDM black side skirt lips CF trunk trim CF door sill and pillars ebrake, brake boot and armrest red-stitched wrap/replacement Replacement RA UR mudflaps Thanks for the support and I hope to continue enjoying my WRX for as long as possible! Thanks, you started it! I didn't realize that you were the one that bought the first STI. I remember when it came in and everyone got all excited. hahaha
It's crazy that our cars will still be IT until about November when the new models come out. I wonder when the last time was that there was a production delay that made the previous model year the current year for longer than 1 year for Subaru? It probably happens more often than I've cared, I'm sure. |

I just think it's kinda cheesy to take pics with your car, which is why I haven't submitted anything for this month's ROTM. "You no proud, LingLing! You no PROUD!" hahahaha |

I like Eric's idea of having your own thread to update, so I'm going to give it a try.
Yesterday I scheduled to have CCA tint my windows and tail lights. I'm going to keep the reverse light area clear. The only other mods I've had since I last posted is: - Nameless axleback exhaust - Enkei 17x7 wheels on Nokian Hakk II tires - Yakima side clamped roof rack with ski/snowboard clamps - Plastic cargo tray Issues since last update: - Clutch replaced the first week of November. - Plastic underguard for front bumper has been torn off (finished by me after Alaska started it) - Front bumper is cracked in various spots (two are commonplace for these bumpers) - Tow eye hook cap is missing - Side cover vent is missing, but replacement ordered 1/24/12 - Alignment scheduled for 1/26/12 - Missing RA UR mud flap, so removed them all - Condensation freezing in driver side head light - Replaced missing fender clips - Two doors dings on either side of the car, rear doors I'm very happy with the Nameless exhaust. It sounds so awesome. I'm SUPER excited about the CCA tint job coming up. Next to having an autostart it's the one thing I've wanted since I bought the car! I'm currently getting a quote on the tS spoiler since there's a sale going on right now. Car currently sits at just over 24k miles. Last edited by chanomatik; 01-25-2012 at 12:29 PM. |

Thanks! I plan on focusing on paying her off sooner rather than later, if possible. Once the RS is sold it'll be much easier. When my living situation changes it'll make it easier, too, to make larger payments. Should be a fun year! I'm feeling pretty positive! These cars are just so fun to mod. Very rewarding indeed.

I just realized that I don't REALLY have a list of what has been done to the car. Here's I'll link build threads and aftermarket parts.
2008/2009/2010/2011 Impreza/WRX/STI/3G Trunk Swap Guide Parts and such: - 2011 STI Enkei base sedan wheels - 5x100 to 5x114.3 25mm spacer adapters from motorsport-tech.com - Tapered, open-end lug nuts for spacers - STI 5-speed short-shifter from Subaru - Kartboy shift knob - Kartboy front and rear shifter bushings - Group N STI transmission mount - 2010 SPT boost gauge (replaced twice already under warranty) - Bass booster box under driver's seat from Subaru - Auto-dim rear view mirror - Blue footwell illumination light - Black front WRX license plate frame - Chrome rear license plate frame - 2008 2.5i rear trunk and 3rd brake light - Rally Armor UR mudlap brackets (one flap ripped off, so others are off for now) - Cobb catless downpipe - Nameless axleback exhaust - 17x7 Enkei bronze wheels with Nokian Hakka II's for winter - Subaru all-weather floor mats for winter - Subaru rubber trunk mat - Open source tune by retrac |

My replacement side cover JUST got it, but otherwise I won't really be fixing the current bumper. It'll be my winter bumper, so I'm going to get a front lip for it to hold it together. That seems to be the cheapest way to deal with it.
I don't think I'll ever be able to replace the tow hook cap because a crack in the bumper goes straight up to the cap and won't allow it to stick in place. It might've not stuck because of all the ice build up I had, so maybe if I can borrow someone else's tow hook cap for a sec to see if it stays in place then it might answer some questions. Otherwise it's kind of fun having a bumper to beat on. ![]() |

Just curious Chano did your bumper get like that from you hitting things only or does chassis stress also mess it up?
Retrac looked at my bumper after he took it off and he said it looks like they made the 2012 bumper a little thicker down low to try and fix the weakness. Last edited by Lrn2Corner; 01-26-2012 at 11:38 PM. |
