News So, I saw someone get dumped out of a garbage truck today...

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-col...k-trapped.html

This happened right behind my apartment this morning and I saw the truck empty its load of garbage into the alley and the dude fall out of the truck!

I flagged down a police car and someone else called 911.

A woman walking by the truck heard the guy screaming inside and she told the driver to stop. Crazy!

Not the first time I've heard of something like this. Homeless people live/scavenge/hangout in dumpsters and this is what happens. I don't feel sorry because any person with a decent grasp of common sense should know this is a bad place to seek refuge. In conclusion: hydraulic compactor> you.

I'm guessing there will be a line up of lawyers wanting to help the bum sue somebody/everybody possible. He might be a millionaire soon if there's no `warning: do not enter` sign on the dumpster he was in

That's entirely standard business practice.

Businesses used to give things like that to charity, until the charity was abused by homeless drug addicts who brought the brand new shoes back to the store demanding refunds, because they don't want shoes they want drug money.

Many of them choose to go into bins/compactors. I remove trespassers/vagrants almost daily, besides off duty. Most of them told me that they can live off from picking up garbage. Some had opportunities to get their life back after rehab and such, but they continued being homeless, cause they can find gold out there they say.

So send them off somewhere where there IS no sportcheck, Africa, Haiti anywhere that could use them. That is just a LAME excuse. My brother's volunteer every year for cycling for humanity where they send a container or more to a different place in Africa every year. The container gets filled with giveaways, mostly used bikes but one year we had a HUGE amount of grips/seats/tires/pedals and other parts from NORCO who graciously donated all the items. They may have been this same situation where they were items otherwise useless to them but came in VERY handy in a place where spare parts for bikes are scarce. It cost them NOTHING except 20 minutes of a warehouse employees time when we came to pick them up and the parts that they gave us went towards employing people in Africa (to fix bikes) and towards health care and education workers there who could now get to more remote places to help people. All it would take Sportcheck or ANY other country is about FIVE minutes on the phone to find a charity willing to pick up these throwaways and send them on their way.

PLEASE man. I already don't go to Sportcheck but practices like these would make me ACTIVELY discredit them. Poo Poo on Sportcheck.
