Default new to turbo kits, want a good one

hey all.... i want boost. i want a good kit that i can bolt on myself within a weekend...and i was wondering if it would A: put to much strain on my automatic tranny or my engine in general

B: how labor intensive this would be, and if i would have to ge anything custom made....

please gimmie some advise on the subject, pics of other RS-Ts would be cool too.

please note: i have a 98 2.2 L coupe...not an RS

thaat did help, and i am sorry for not searching beforehand, i should have, and i am stupid for not doing so...but anyways, i tried reading the atricle in the FAQ about hte tranny's...and all it did was confuse me, i didn't see any mention about the 4EATs in there at all...i looked around, and kastlekorner website and forced air tech's stage 1 kits seem like they could do the trick, btu i would need to find a front moutn intercooler kit for my style impreza, so the search goes on i guess..

you could aways just get a hood from an RS or something! going to raise your bill a little bit but, a hood is most likely going to be cheeper than a FMIC. And depending on how soon you want to do this turbo kit, you could do a little research, build your own, have a better set up than any kit, and have what you want, just my ah plunk plunk 2 cents!

I deal with FAT all the time, and I believe shortly they will be offering a FMIC kit. All I have to do is get the test setup done on my car so Robert can have a template...

I second the notion of swapping hoods. A front mount will set you back maybe 1600 whereas an RS hood will certainly not, and you'll gain some functionality with the hoodscoop and top mount intercooler, if not better looks Along with a new hood though, I believe you will need different headlights and grille.

i didn't thin ki would need different headlights and grille, i thuoght the hood just swapped over....... and besides, it was on the list of one of the things to get with my tax return..as well as a bumper cover to replace the cracked one on their now...

the 98 L's have the same headlight and grill as the RS' so shouldn't have to change those to fit an RS hood.
