Default Sub 3000 rpm stutter/hesitation.

2000 2.5rs sedan. 258k

About 2 years ago, I had similar symptoms, and was cured by cleaning out the throttle body, and changing the fuel filter. In the process, changed the coil.
Car was fine until this summer.
Similar symptoms. Car will stutter like crazy, but if you can get it above 3k, it seems to pull as hard as ever. It coincides with my fuel level gauge starting to crap out. I didn't think the two were linked until this weekend. The stuttering is intermittant. Usually the car gets warm and it goes away.

Drove the car for about an hour, and the stuttering becomes very consistant. It starts to get bad enough, I worry if I'll get home. As I approach a rotary, I lose 80% of my power, abs light comes on, speedo and tach indicate zero, even though I'm going about 25 mph. After a few seconds, I wonder to myself if maybe the alternator has crapped out or something at the tach indicates zero.
I realize my head light and fog lights are on, so I turn them off, the dash goes to normal and cars power goes to normal. Turn the lights back on, and the abs light comes on and tach and speedo go to zero. Turn the lights off again, and all seems normal.
I continue on with lights off. I have 30 minutes left of my drive home. I realize that my gas level gauge is now back to normal, and is no longer malfuctioning. I have no stutter, and the drive home the car acts perfectly.
I get within a mile of my house, and decide it would be good to test the lights again.....cause I could walk home at this point. Turn on the lights, and everything is still fine.
Had a new gas tank installed this spring.

Certainly a wierd one.
