You have stock 17s? Stock '02 wheels are 16s.

Byzantium: how long have you been here? You even have an 02 WRX, and you don't know that there were stock 17x7 BBS wheels offered as an option?

To the OP: On a 17x7 the largest I would go would be a 235/45/17, and that is really pushing it. A 225/45/17 would probably be better. A 215/50/17 or so is probably much more commonly used on this size wheel. This all depends, however on the specific tire manufacturer's specifications. When ever you figure out what kind of tires you want, look at their recommended wheel width range for a few size tires that you are interested in.

I bought an '02 WRX new. It was an option, but they aren't stock and somehow I doubt those are the wheels the OP has (could be wrong, my last post was more or less a request to say what he has).

I just put 225/60/16 goodyear eagle GT's on my GC there mounted on some RS 6 spokes I think it worked out to be a 26.5 inch tire. I'm on 04 STI struts with 02 wrx springs they rub a little on hard turns, I need to roll my fenders more. on a 17 you could probably do a 225/55/17.

Yea I kind of doubt that he has those wheels either, I just figured I would use the assumption to screw with you a bit.

Idk why people are so caught up in the 245/235/225 debate...you should look at the tires you want, then check tread width...then pick the tires based on which has the widest tread contact...you could waste money on 245's that have a treadwidth of 8.1" and then look at a 225 with a treadwidth of 8.9/9.1" ...which would you rather run? I'd think you'd want the ones with wider treadwidth

MurderedWRX has 17" rims from an '05 wrx, i believe theyre 17x7s.... theyre the multi-spoke rims. his goal is to to put forester suspension on it, but if there is other ways to slightly lift it, like larger tires, that is possibly an option too....
