Default Check Engine Light On / Cruise Light On

I have a 2007 Outback.....2.5, non turbo, AT. The check engine light is on ( steady ) and the cruise light is on ( blinking ).

I've read about the cruise ilght being on along with the check engine light on........but I can't remember the significance of this combination.

Help please, thanks.

I think they do the cruise control thing so you can't use it until you get the code checked out.

I believe it means that you are either running rich or lean. When mine came on it was just like that, and when I plugged my scanner into it, it said I was running lean.

Easy, go to pepboys, Napa, Orelly's etc and see if they have a OBD2 scanner. See what codes pop up and write them down and post them on here or just search them. It is free to get the scanner from Orelly's, they just ask for your drivers license and give it back to ya when your done!

Edit your profile to show your region, or even your location. You never know who lives nearby who has an OBD2 reader. If you were anywhere around here, I'd have ya drop by and use mine.

if Its just the check engine light its usually a failed O2 sensor/or going catless without reflash, when It disables cruise control , It means there is more than one code being thrown, it wont allow you to run cruise control cause it could interfere with self protection modes/ fail safe/ limp home modes - what ever you want call it. that the ECU does to prevent damages to the motor

blinking CEL means something other than emission controls is malfunctioning- READ:
CEL staying on- make appointment with dealer
blinking CEL-immediate service required -driving the car at all isnt recommended until it has been serviced/ checked out

Correct. A blinking CEL means immediate damage to emissions system and/or misfires detected.

CC light blinks whenever you have a check engine light on. Say you are running cruise control at 60 mph and your check engine light comes on. Your ECU disables your cruise control to let you know that your check engine light came on.......it continues to blink as a reminder.
