I have a 99 OBS. yesterday, my radio turned off, and my clock reseted, as well as my odo. My last radio was working fien and then it blew out. I`m worried that the same can happen to the new one. any ideas? ah, for the time being, I took off the radio fuse. thanx

I also noticed it detects a door open and the dome light doesn`t work. the clock resets to 1:00 everytime I stop the car. It has been raining lately, does that have something to do?

There could be a bad connection to the memory power circuit located in the fuse panel under the hood. Also you might try cleaning the battery to chassis grounds along with the battery connections. You don't have a danger of damaging the radio unless the alternator is putting out excessive voltage but it sounds like the regulator inside it is ok. For the dome light check the switch position on it and make sure it isn't in the OFF position.

Where exactly is the memory power circuit? The dome light doesn`t work in any of the 2 on positions.

Always check both, but based on your symptoms, I think the one in the engine bay is blown. Why wouldn't you check anyways?

There is either a bad connection somewhere, possibly near the fuse panel, or you may have mixed the fuses up if you removed more than one at a time and one of the fuses is really bad. If something else now fails to work then you have a bad fuse. They can be easily mistaken for good ones.

I`d go with the bad connection. I took them one at a time. Today it has worked real fine,I`ll keep you informed if it fails. Thanx

Check and clean the connectors at the fuse box and replace the fuse with one of the same value.

Whatever fuse is allocated to the problematic areas. ie. the fuse for the clock or stereo. It should be outlined on the fuse box cover.
