I was told to post in here when I posted in the Newbie section, so heres my post.
Okay, so the stock 1997 Impreza has 137 HP...I would like a bit more than that, I don't think that's too unreasonable...so I am looking for help. I am not much of an engine guy, my dad is however and he can help with the installs but I need to pick the parts first. One problem I have is my exhaust system. I live in Maine and for those of you who are not aware...Maine has now outlawed every and all exhaust system that is louder by any amount then the stock system...yeah, it sucks. So exhaust modifications that are any louder than stock are out of the question completely. Please help, I am a total noob when it comes to engines! I am looking to come up to around 200HP maybe 250 but not more, I don't want too powerful of a car, I might get tempted...

200- 250 HP.. bro I don't want to be a jerk but do some searching in this N/A section.here is a good start: 1) get a new engine from a newer turbo subaru. 2) Get a new car. 3) just use and enjoy your car for what it is.. that power is almost not attainable N/A and will cost you several thousands of dollars either way. |

Yes, I have been following the other thread as it has gotten much more attention, my current plan is to find a wrecked STi and take the engine out of it.

how much is a 97 impreza worth? I'd reccomend selling it and buying a 02 WRX. The cost of doing what you want right is probably worth as much as your car...not to mention you need new brakes, suspension, the 6 speed. That is so much engine for your 137 HP car. you need to swap the whoel drivetrain over.. lots might not even fit.
