Default Idea/help with fmic/header/exhaust

Ok, So looking at FMIC's Headers, and exhaust.
I have decided that you can really mess those up due to milling. That and my local subi shop tech is running same " brand" if you can call it that.

I have been looking at the cheapo ebay brands for the three. I don't have the cash to pay a grand on one piece alone.

So i am looking for help in:

Has anyone used any of these?

Problems with instillation?

Modification to car or parts?

longevity of parts?

Modifying your subie is a pay to play venture, and is not cheap in anyway. I personally would not risk destroying a motor over a $300 intercooler. I honestly believe you get what you pay for and cheap parts are just that, cheap parts. That being said, if you are on a budget, spend your money where it counts. If you can't afford new, try the nasioc classifieds and see if you can get higher quality well treated used parts at a savings to you. And also look at what is needed for your build, you will probably make the same power on a downpipe and good tune as you would buying all those eBay parts, and it would still probably cost less.

out of all the exhausts son ebay you find hte most ricer one possible.. :/

FMIC - dont worry about it
Exhaust - PM Josh at importimageracing get a gimmick motorsports cbe $209 shipped
Downpipe - pick up an ebay one for $70 or pick up a used catless for 125-150 invida/helix, etc.

Why is this posted in the built motor section ???

Thats what i was wondering if they dont fit up.
And i didnt want to get a cheap fmic so much as exhaust. My dad worked in a exhaust shop for ten years. So i know something about those. A tube is a tube is a tube. The cats and resonator i am curious about. I hate the rice sound.

(i just picked one to show idea)
I dont race my car, save for a stray civic here and there. So a Prerrin Turboback Exhaust seems a bit much. ($1200) I do want the deep subi sound though.
My car does everything i need it to now. i was just wondering about small bolt ons to let the motor work less.
I am more about handling then speed. (but thats under control)

But not all steel is the same, heat affects strength and integrity of cheap steel. And wall thickness' vary. It's no fun having to repair welds that crack or joints that break. Just speaking from experience. Had a dp crack and the repair weld cost more than the down pipe.

I'm with the 'you get what you pay for' crowd. That being said, on a tight budget you're much better off buying used high quality parts than new cheap crap. Down the road if you ever decide to change or sell the parts you typically get back what you paid for them too, not a bunch less like you would with used cheapo parts.
