Default blue painters tape??

going on a road trip and heard it was a good idea to put the tape on my front end and mirrors..is this ok? will it hurt the paint in any way ? what if it rains? is 3 days too long for it to stay on? thanks

you'll look like a weirdo, but who cares it's your car. The tape should be fine as blue painters tape has limited adhesion. Water +tape= tape not holding.

I did it on my M3 trip from OKC to Key West and worked great! car was perfectly clean avoided million bugs and other crap on the way.

** It did take me a few hours to tape all the bumper and some of the hood

Well i recently went on a road trip and was looking for something exactly like you are. I went to pep boys and bought a roll of paint protection film, DONT DO IT! This is what happened to me:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2049897

I would use tape and be done with it...if you want subtle, you can get a roll of 3M Clearbra and throw that on there...good luck!

I used to do it all the time on my TT Supra when i drove it to Vegas for Supra's Invade Vegas 4years in a row... taped on the front bumper, half the hood and also taped the side mirrors. Did a good 2 layers/overlapping. Peel it off and use some Quick Detailer.
